Malias POV:
It sounded like someone was trying to talk to me while my head was fully submerged in water.
All the noises were so drowned out, they sounded almost...cloudy?
I woke up to the sounds of monitors beeping.
It varied in sound. One was high pitched but beeping slowly, the other was lower and beeped like every single second.
My eyes felt cemented shut. Like they'd been closed for an eternity or two.
Immediately after opening my eyes, a sharp pain radiated through my head.
It felt like a needle was poking my brain.
"Ow," I yelped.
My voice came out hoarse and cracky, a polar opposite to my usual voice.
I felt a figure quickly stand up next to me. When I turned, it was Kylie.
"Oh thank God," She said looking at me. Her eye-bags were dark. "Let me go get the doctor."
She looked completely exhausted.
It made me wonder what she'd been doing during my nap.
She left the room, leaving me alone and wondering.
Wait...doctor???
I began to look at my surroundings and only then realized that I was not in my bedroom.
This was not my bedroom at all.
I looked down at my attire.
I was in a hospital gown and some fuzzy socks with some sort of grip on the bottom. There was an IV attached to my wrist.
The monitors beeping were, in fact, my blood pressure and heart rate monitors.
Before I could look any harder, a man in a white coat walked in behind Kylie.
I assumed he was the doctor she had gone to get.
"Hello Malia, i'm Dr. Paul White, i've been running your tests and been with you these past few hours along with your friend." He said, pointing at Kylie.
The man was middle aged, some white hairs came through in his scruffy goatee.
He wasn't tall, but he wasn't small either. He seemed very healthy.
As he should be, being a doctor and all.
I was so confused, I didn't even know why I was in the hospital.
"What happened?" I asked, my throat immediately feeling dry.
Kylie must have read my mind because she walked over to me with a water jug and straw in her hand.
She sat next to me on the bed, and guided the straw into my mouth.
The doctor spoke as I drank.
"You suffered extreme dehydration, which led to you fainting."
Woah. Fainting? I've never fainted in my life.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized I didn't drink any water.
I woke up late, so I was rushing to get ready to go to the ice skating rink with Kylie.
Then, I spent hours figuring out how to actually skate, and when we got home I was so wrapped up in all that police business, I didn't drink there either.
"Will I be okay?" I asked, thinking about how we were supposed to film the final scene of the movie tomorrow.
We were already cutting it close to the due date. I didn't want to be the reason we let the movie get cancelled.
Kylie looked at me, setting the water cup down on the table next to the bed, and taking my hand.
I felt her thumb rub my hand, and her eyes looked so worried.
"Yes, you are good. We put a lot of fluid into you through your IV, so once you successfully urinate, you can be released."
I smiled.
"Good, I have a lot of work to do." I said, honestly.
Both Kylie and the doctor frowned.
"I recommend you take everything easy. You just collapsed, small movements can exhaust you let alone work."
Only now I realized the doctor didn't know I was an actress.
He probably thought I was just another teenage kid working part time.
I just nodded.
"So I need to pee?" I asked, causing the doctor to nod.
"Yes. Once you let out all the fluids we entered through your IV, I will come remove it and you will be let go."
With that, the doctor turned and walked out, gently closing the door behind him.
My head was still killing me, but everything else felt fine.
I turned to Kylie.
"Sorry, I guess I forgot to drink water." I said, giving a slight smile to try and lighten the mood.
Kylie wasn't having it.
"You need to take care of yourself Malia. This shouldn't ever happen."
Even though she was scolding me, Kylie leaned forward and kissed my forehead.
"I was so worried. You were out for a solid two hours." She said, resting her head on mine.
We just sat in silence for ten minutes until I had a feeling in my lower abdomen.
"Kylie," I said, making her swiftly get up and look at me.
"What? Is something hurting?"
I laughed, which wasn't a good idea at all.
"No, no. I need to pee," I said, as I began to get up from the bed.
"Oh," Kylie said between laughs.
She got a phil's of my waist and helped me walk over to the bathroom.
She waited outside the door while I finished my business, and when I came out, the doctor was standing with Kylie.
He had a big smile.
"Why hello again! Just here to remove your IV and get you going." He said.
His tone was much more jolly than his previous professional one.
I smiled and stuck out my arm for him to remove the IV.
Once it was out, the doctor left my room one final time and Kylie walked over to me holding a fresh pair of clothes.
She helped me take off the hospital gown, and get into the next outfit.
She was treated me like I just survived a gun wound, but in reality I could do it all myself.
She wouldn't let me do anything, no matter how many times I told her I was fine.
As we walked down to the parking lot, Kylie completely ignored the fact that we were in public.
She kept her hands on my waist, and basically held me up the entire way to the car.
Once we got all buckled in, she let out a breath I didn't even know she was holding in.
"You okay, Ky?" I asked, my hand going to her leg.
She turned to me, the unreadable expression still on her face.
"No. There's something you should know."
