Later that evening, as I settled into my room, I felt a surge of excitement bubbling inside me. I had to tell someone about Ethan asking me out. I picked up my phone and dialed Shelly's number, barely able to contain my enthusiasm. When she answered, I couldn't hold it in any longer. "Shelly! He asked me out!"

On the other end, there was a moment of stunned silence, and then Shelly let out an ecstatic scream. "What?! Are you serious?" Her excitement was infectious, and I found myself grinning ear to ear.

"Yes! Like, actually asked me on a date for coffee!"

Shelly's voice was a mix of glee and disbelief. "Oh my God, this is amazing! James! Get over here!" I could hear her yelling to James, and moments later, he picked up the line, slightly bewildered. "What's going on?"

"She just got asked out by Ethan!" Shelly announced, and I could hear the thrill in her voice.

James let out a whoop of joy. "No way! That's awesome, Lily! You've been talking about him for weeks!"

"I know! But now I'm freaking out," I admitted, pacing my room. "I don't know what to do or what to wear!"

"Relax," Shelly said, her tone soothing yet playful. "It's just coffee, not a royal wedding. But hey, why don't you come over to my place? We can do your makeup together. I have some great outfits you can try on."

The idea of hanging out with Shelly and getting ready together made me feel a little lighter. "Okay, that sounds perfect," I replied, grateful for her support. "I'll be there tomorrow."

As we wrapped up the call, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement wash over me. I was stepping into uncharted territory, but with my best friend by my side, I felt more confident about facing this new chapter with Ethan.
