As Ethan turned to leave, a thought seemed to hit him. He paused and turned back to me, a playful grin spreading across his face. "Hey, wait a second! I need your number."

I raised an eyebrow, curious. "My number? For what?"

"So I can call you tonight to let you know I made it back safe," he said, his tone light but sincere. "And I want to make sure we plan our next adventure tomorrow!"

I smiled, feeling warmth spread through me. "Okay, that makes sense." I quickly grabbed my phone and handed it to him. He then typed in his number before giving it back to me.

"Now you have my number too!" he said, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "So you can text me about the clown sightings in your area."

I laughed, shaking my head at his silly joke. "No worries, I'll keep you posted! But no promises on ninja moves!"

"Deal!" he replied, a soft laugh escaping him. "But seriously, I'll call you tonight. I want to hear all about how you plan to win the next horror movie."

"Sounds good! I'll be waiting," I said, my heart fluttering with excitement.

With that, he stepped back toward the door one last time, his eyes lingering on mine. "Goodnight, Lily," he said softly.

"Goodnight, Ethan," I replied, watching him walk away, feeling a mixture of joy and anticipation for what tomorrow might bring. It felt like a new chapter was just beginning, and I couldn't wait to see where it would lead us.
