I took a deep breath, feeling a sense of determination wash over me. "You know, Amelie, Conor doesn't actually know that Ethan and I are officially dating. He just thinks we're friends."
Amelie raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? How does that feel for you?"
"It feels like I'm keeping part of my life hidden, but I want to wait for the right moment to tell him," I replied, fidgeting with my hands. "I don't want to rush it or make it seem like I'm rubbing it in his face. I'll definitely tell him when the occasion is right, though."
"That makes sense," Amelie said, nodding in understanding. "It's important to choose your moments wisely, especially considering your history with him."
"Exactly," I agreed. "I just want to be respectful, especially with everything going on with his wedding planning. But I also don't want to hide the fact that Ethan means a lot to me. It's just... tricky."
Amelie leaned in, her eyes encouraging. "It sounds like you're navigating this with a lot of thoughtfulness. Just remember, you deserve to share your happiness when you feel ready."
I smiled, appreciating her reassurance. "Thanks, Amelie. I'm really trying to find that balance."
"Lily, it's great that you're being considerate of Conor's feelings, but don't forget to prioritize your own happiness. When you do decide to tell him about your real with Ethan, be firm in your stance. You have every right to be open about your relationship."
I nodded, taking in her advice. "That makes sense. I just worry about how he'll react."
"Understandable," Amelie replies, her voice gentle. "But remember, you can't control his feelings or reactions. What's most important is how you feel and how Ethan makes you feel. Surround yourself with people who uplift you. If Conor tries to make you feel guilty for moving on, it's a reflection of his insecurities, not yours."
"Yeah, you're right," I say, feeling a sense of empowerment.
"Also, communicate openly with Ethan about your past with Conor. Let him know what you're comfortable with and any triggers that might arise. The more he understands your journey, the better he can support you," Amelie suggested.
"I've been doing that," I replied. "Ethan's been really patient and understanding, which is so refreshing."
"Good! Healing takes time, and it's okay to ask for space if you feel overwhelmed. You're allowed to take things at your own pace," she added, her tone firm yet supportive.
I smiled, feeling encouraged by her words. "Thank you, Amelie. This really helps."
"Of course! Just keep reminding yourself that you're deserving of love and happiness. You're doing incredibly well, and I'm proud of you," she said warmly.
I leave the session feeling more confident and ready to face whatever came next in my journey with Ethan and Conor.
