I feel as though I've been kicked in the stomach by a strong horse. I'm sore and my muscles ache. I know I'm laying in a bed but I feel two strong weights at my sides. One is behind me and the other is in front of me. I open my eyes slowly, the lamp light blinding me for a moment. I look to see Jin's sleeping face on a pillow in front of me, one of his arms bent under his head. I feel breathing behind me and turn to look to see Sapphire's nose right at my back.

 

"Jin?" I say hoarsely. My throat is scratchy and dry.

 

He flutters his eyes open, and they instantly widen at me. "Ella! Baby, are you ok? How do you feel?" He says as he sits up to look down at me, his hands hovering over my body.

 

"If I'm being honest, like shit," I yell him as I try to sit up. He gently presses down on my shoulders so I'm laying back down.

 

"You've been through a lot baby. You need to lay back down," he tells me.

"What happened? I remember picking out fabrics or something and then I'm blank," I tell him as I grab my head.

"You have been under some stress lately. I'm sorry, it was too much for you. You should have told me, and I would have taken some of the duties. You passed out and....." he trails off.

 

"I could handle that much Jin. You have enough to worry about. What happened after I passed out," I ask him and he gives me a worried look. "What is it?" I ask him, beginning to feel panic in my chest.

"There was a lot of blood Ella. You might have.... lost the babies," he tells me.

 

My eyes widen and my hands go to my womb instantly and tears spring to my eyes. I know my children weren't conceived under the best circumstances but that doesn't mean I wanted anything to happen to them. I was beginning to love them, regardless of their fathers.

 

"Calm down, I don't know for sure. The doctor will be in shortly to check, ok?" Jin says trying to calm me as Sapphire lifts her head.

 

"Jin....I don't want to lose them...." I say on a sniffle.

 

"I know baby, I know...." he says as he lays his forehead against mine.

I turn to Sapphire and look at her. Dragon females can tell, and an idea comes to mind. "Sapphie, are they still there?" I ask her in a croaked voice.

 

Sapphire looks at me and brings her two front claws onto the bed. She hovers over me and looks over my womb. Jin is hesitant to move out of the way but he does. Sapphire sniffs at me and gently lays her head against my womb, nuzzling it there with a purring sound from her throat. I instantly relax and let out a relieved breath. They're still there.

 

The doctor comes back with some type of machine and stares at Sapphire.

"Is the dragon going to let me approach this time?" He asks before entering the room fully.
