"How can you NOT believe in soul mates!?" Jungkook exclaimed as he looked at Namjoon.
"Because it's an idea, there's a scientific reason behind it, a movement of chemicals in the human brain," Namjoon said back.
"But, Hyung, sometimes you just feel that spark, that connection, people just KNOW, who their soul mates are,"
"No, they THINK they know who their soulmates are,"
"Excuse Namjoon, he's been a cynic since he was old enough to read," Jin said.
"And, how old was that?" Jimin asked as he looked at Jin, while Taehyung had him in a light embrace.
"Since he was two,"
"TWO!?"
"Yes, IQ148, this one, well, until he steps into a kitchen, and then somehow he becomes IQ-148, ah, god is fair,"
Everyone laughed at that as Namjoon felt a bit embarrassed.
"It's OK, Hyung, I still love you," Jungkook said as he patted Namjoon's shoulder.
"Yeah, yeah," Namjoon muffled.
"You sure you don't believe in soul mates?" Hoseok asked.
"I believe in this phenomenon of soul mates about as much as I believe in god," Namjoon said.
Everyone tilted their head at him.
"He's Atheist," Jin said.
"Oh!" Taehyung said, "So, you don't believe that people can feel that zing of their soul mates?"
"Not at all, if all it takes is a zing to know for sure, then you fail the basic needs of human connection and rely only on the feelings, relationships take work, not just a zing because it feels good,"
"He's basically saying that movies are lying to us," Jin said bluntly while trying to hide a small laugh and smirk.
"You're not a Rom-Com fan, are you?" Jimin said as he took a bite of his pizza.
"Eh, not my cup of tea, I mean, the tropes are usually similar, like, Jin Hyung got into one recently, the whole zing found Jungkook by mistake because he crashed into him, and then there's other tropes that are overdone, you know, the fake date ones,"
Jimin and Taehyung nearly blanched at that...nearly.
"Think about it, they fake date, they lie to people, suddenly they're meant to be and all is good after comedic happenings," Namjoon said, "That doesn't happen in real life,"
"But the evidence is all around you, how can you not believe that it's real?" Jungkook asked.
"Just because the masses experience a phenomenon, it doesn't mean that it's a thing, people have mass believed things for centuries at the costs of people's lives, I just, it's a bit nonsensical to me,"
"So, why don't you actually believe in soul mates?" Jimin asked, "If you're OK to tell us,"
Namjoon looked at his brother who nodded his head at him as Namjoon said, "Our parents,"
"Oh?"
That caught Taehyung's attention.
"You know those stories or the belief that soul mates don't always marry each other, right? Some soul mates are just really good friends to the point of familial bonds, but they are nevertheless just really, really, good friends, and then you have soul mates that never find each other, and you have soulmates who are apart because they just didn't fall in love, or notice, and then you have our parents, mine and Jin's,"
