After they had eaten, Ivy silently followed the rest of the first year's Slytherins, who were led by an older student, down to the common room. It was basically in the dungeons. Why did she feel discriminated against?

On the way there she learned that the hallways were filled with portraits of walking, talking people and that the staircases changed directions and that Draco Malfoy was full of himself, and Daphne was snarky and Davina was annoyingly friendly and Theo Nott was a lot like her in the sense that he too was fed up of everyone and chose to remain quiet.

Ivy descended the stairs with everyone else, staying towards the back of the group, and past the dungeons and Professor Snape's- the head of Slytherin and professor of potions- office, until they reached a portrait of an old, bald man with a piercing gaze and a long white and black beard wearing green and black robes. Ivy heard Davina call him Salazar Slytherin- one of the four founders of Hogwarts. The password was 'Pureblood' which didn't make the green-eyed girl feel any better.

The portrait swung open and they made their way inside the circular common room. There was an eerie, green hue around the room which she heard was because the common room was under the Black Lake and the students could sometimes see the giant squid that lives there swimming past the long and wide windows that were around the round room.

The room was massive and had many different corners and sitting areas and tables, some having chess boards and such. There were statues around the room, one of Salazar Slytherin and one which said Merlin which confused and intrigued Ivy. There were many random skulls and skeletons hung up as decoration like Unicorn skeletons and Snake skulls. Ivy definitely needed to read up on what mythical creatures were actually real.

There was a fireplace directly opposite the entrance and black leather sofas and chairs around it. The room, although dark and cold, was beautiful and elegant. The walls were high and full of beautiful tapestry and in the centre of the ceiling was a circular window, which just as the others, emitted a green, glistening glow. On either side of the fireplace were two grand staircases which led towards the boy's dorm rooms on the left and the girl's dorm rooms on the right. All their belongings and familiars had been left in their dorm rooms.

Ivy noticed a beautiful, grand piano in one of the corners and a velvet, green stool. Some walls were covered by tall bookshelves, stacked with many hardback cover books.

They were allowed to stay awake for a little longer unless they wanted to sleep but weren't allowed to leave the common room. Ivy now sat on one of the velvet chairs by the fireplace, opposite a window. The light from the fire and the windows were enough for her to see what she was doing as she read the book Hermione had spoken about- Hogwarts: A History- and another yet unopened book about creatures of the wizarding world.

Twilight was now reunited with Ivy and curled up in her lap, eyes shut, both girls exhausted and needing peace and quiet.

"There you are, Ivy!"

Ivy had to close her eyes to stop them from rolling at the sound of Davina's voice. When Ivy found out she was sharing a dorm room with Davina and a few others she wanted to scream, she probably wouldn't have minded if Davina hadn't squealed and attempted to hug her and claimed to have the bed beside Ivy. Davina had asked Ivy to stay in the room so they could get to know each other but the second the brown-haired girl walked into the girl's bathroom, Ivy grabbed her new cat and ran out.
