Harry and Ron did not manage to save the car and instead watched as it drove past Hagrid's hut, into the Forbidden Forest to go commit suicide.

They had managed to grab all their things and drag them along to where everyone else's belongings were waiting and left their familiars.

"Bye, Twilight," Ivy pet her cat who purred in response. "Remind me to kill you both tomorrow."

Ron and Harry both looked up at her as she continued walking straight. Her visually-impaired brother asked, "Aren't you coming up with us? Everyone must be at the feast."

"No, after all that, I'm going straight to bed. I'd also appreciate if you don't tell on me, thanks."

She continued walking straight past the dungeons and towards the Slytherin common room as the two boys made their way up the stairs.

"Maybe she's not coming back this year," Daphne muttered, attempting to blow her blunt bangs that fell just above her eyebrows.

"Well, why wouldn't she?" Davina asked, throwing her hands up.

"Maybe her family didn't want her to return this year, considering what happened last year," Blaise frowned as he attempted to find a reason.

"Yeah, are you forgetting how her brother was attacked by the dark lord who was in disguise as Professor Quirrell?" Theo reminded them.

Blaise gave him a look, "That's not what happened."

"Close enough," Theo shrugged.

Daphne messed with her hair in order to seem unbothered, "Yeah, so maybe her family just decided that Hogwarts wasn't as safe for them as they thought it was and figured it was best for them to not come back."

"They wouldn't be wrong," Draco quietly spoke up. "Things are only gonna be far worse this year, I imagine."

They all looked at him, confused, as Theo questioned, "What makes you say that, mate?"

Draco looked up at them all with a look of surprise and just shrugged, "Wishful thinking. Anyways, I saw her, not long ago, at Diagon Alley, buying things for school with the Weasley's. She's bound to return this year."

They all walked into the common room, following the prefects who led the new first years.

"Then, where is she?" Davina questioned. "And why wasn't her brother at the feast or on the train, either?"

"Who knows, Davina," Daphne sighed in annoyance whilst Blaise offered her a pat on the shoulder.

They walked over to their usual seats, happy to be back in the familiar place and grateful that the fireplace was on.

A small meow was heard and they all looked down to see a black cat, with a familiar green collar, trot past them, carelessly.

Theo pointed at the cat, "Is that..."

Twilight jumped up onto the singular chair right in front of the fireplace, next to the sofas, and all their heads shot up.

Ivy glanced up from the diary she wrote in, as Twilight snuggled up in her lap, and raised a brow at the group who stared at her with comically shocked expressions. "Cat got your tongue?" She smirked at her own pun.
