DAYS LATER
Harry had just left the room to go get the post after being laughed at by the Dursleys for thinking he was also going to Smeltings school, with Dudley. Ivy's cold and emotionless heart hurt at the sight of her poor brother's face.
Uncle Vernon and Dudley sat at the table whilst Ivy helped her Aunt Petunia make breakfast. Harry walked in with the mail and handed it to Uncle Vernon, then walked toward Ivy with two letters. He handed her one before looking down at his own.
Ivy read the envelope in confusion. It was addressed to her.
Miss I. Potter
The Rusty Attic.
4, Privet Drive
Little Whinging
Surrey
Dudley, being the annoying person that he was, noticed their letters and ran up to Harry, then snatched the letter out of his hand and gave it to his father.
"Dad! Look! Harry and Ivy got letters!"
"Hey, give it back! It's mine!"
"Yours? Who'd be writing to you?" Vernon voiced his confusion.
Petunia snatched Ivy's letter out of her hand and walked up to Vernon. The Dursleys gathered to look at the letter as Ivy made her way to Harry. There was a broken seal on Harry's letter, one which their aunt and uncle were all too familiar with. The Dursleys all looked up at them slowly, making Harry gulp.
Over the next couple of days, Owls would drop by with very, many letters addressed to Harry and Ivy. It confused the three young kids even more as Vernon turned to desperate measures to stop Harry and Ivy from receiving their letters.
Inside, Vernon grabbed a handful of letters and ripped them up.
In the closet, Harry heard a whirring noise. He looked out at Vernon drilling wood over the letterbox opening and Ivy standing by the stairs watching.
"No more mail through this letterbox," Vernon muttered.
Harry quietly closed the cupboard door as Ivy huffed and went upstairs.
Vernon also went as far as locking the attic window so that no Owl would be able to drop off any letters through her window.
The next day, Vernon and Petunia were outside the front door. Vernon was about to head off to work. Petunia kissed his cheek.
"Have a lovely day at the office, dear."
She froze and looked down forward and saw lots of owls sitting in their front garden.
Vernon saw this too and waved his hands, "Shoo! Go on!"
Petunia noticed the letters were addressed to Ivy and Harry and patted Vernon's shoulder to get his attention. He paused when he saw them and they both shared a look.
On Saturday, Vernon was tossing letters into the fireplace with a sadistic grin as Ivy stood, leaning against the doorway, watching him. Harry came around the corner toward her as Vernon continued tossing more in.
Sunday morning, the Dursleys sat around the living room relaxed as Harry served a plate of cookies and Ivy poured a glass of milk for them. Vernon sighed happily.
