"Sorry about the bite," Sirius said to Ron as he and Harry helped him walk. "I reckon that twinges a bit."
"A bit? A bit? You almost tore my leg off," Ron cried.
"I was going for the rat. Normally, I have a very sweet disposition as a dog," Sirius said and Ivy let out an amused huff. "In fact, more than once, James suggested that I make the change permanent. The tail I could live with. But the fleas, they're murder."
"Wait," Ivy frowned. "You hugged me whilst you had fleas?"
He gave her an apologetic look as they stopped, "Sorry."
"I believe I'm owed a different apology, actually." Ivy sent a pointed look to her brother.
Harry shrugged, "I can't think of anything."
She huffed as Sirius laughed, "See what I have to deal with?"
Sirius sighed, "You should apologise to your sister, Harry. She had discovered the truth a long while ago, helped me ever since. I owe her a lot."
Harry pursed his lips and glanced at Ivy, "I'm sorry. But you should've told me the truth too."
Ivy scoffed, "As if you would've listened."
They stepped out of the Whomping Willow to see it was night outside. They set Ron down, Harry and Hermione dropping to his side.
Ivy stood a bit away from them, looking around. "Do any of you feel like we're being watched?" The trio shared odd looks. She rolled her eyes, "Nevermind."
Ivy trailed behind Sirius as he walked a bit away, staring at the castle. "What are you thinking?"
"Just remembering my own years here," He said with a content smile. Harry joined them. "It's beautiful, isn't it? I'll never forget the first time I walked through those doors. It'll be nice to do it again. As a free man."
"Now, you get too," Ivy whispered and Sirius smiled at her.
He looked at Harry, "That was a noble thing you did back there. He doesn't deserve it."
"Well, I didn't think my dad would've wanted his two best friends to become killers. Besides, dead, the truth dies with him. Alive, you're free."
"Wow, Harry. For once, you were smarter than me," Ivy admitted, genuinely shocked. That hadn't actually crossed her mind.
Hearing commotion, the three turned to see Remus pull Peter out as he complained.
"Ron! Haven't I been a good pet? You won't let them give me to the dementors, will you? I was your rat!" He looked at Hermione. "Sweet girl. Clever girl. You won't let them-"
"I don't know if you know, Harry. But when you two were born, James and Lily made me your Godfather," Sirius started as they ignored the background.
"I know," Harry said.
"I can understand if you choose to stay with your aunt and uncle... but if you ever wanted a different home..." Sirius suggested.
