Sirius watched her with wide eyes filled with pain and longing and whispered, "Fifi."
The green-eyed girl furrowed her brows at the random name he called her. "Um, no. I'm Ivy."
He attempted to smile, his rotten teeth now visible, "I could recognise that face no matter how long it's been. Ivy Lilith... You look just like them. You-you know me?"
The girl squeezed her fingers around the stuffed dog and lifted her head, "Yes. I've heard about you."
His eyes darted around, "Nothing good, I assume."
She shook her head, seeming casual, "Not really. In my own experience though,... nothing is ever what it seems."
He looked up with hope, "You- you believe I'm innocent?"
Did she? Ivy wasn't sure herself.
"Are you?" She asked instead.
"Yes! Yes, Ivy Lilith," He took her hand, regardless of her hesitation, "I am innocent! I swear. They can all think otherwise but you- Merlin, I hope you've inherited Lily and Fifi's brain- you would believe me. You will look for the truth and figure it out, this I know."
Ivy interrupted the erratic man with tattoos all over his dirty skin, "Okay, okay. Sirius Black? Against my better judgment, for the sake of satisfying my curiosity, I need you to sit with me and try to calm down. Okay?"
They both sat in the long blades of dying grass. Ivy looked at the man and wondered if she should be spooked by him. He looked like he would go berserk and ballistic at any given second.
His beady and wild eyes looked at her, studying her features. She awkwardly attempted to avoid his gaze and wondered what to ask first.
"So, you're a dog?"
He blinked, "Only when I want to be."
"Interesting," She hummed. His intense gaze still lingered. "Um, Sirius, what are you doing here?"
He began to shake his head, "I need to get that rat. I need to find that rat and kill him. I'm gonna kill that rat!"
As he fell into a loop of hating a rat, Ivy pulled a face of pure confusion and concern and watched him.
"You escaped Azkaban and came to Hogwarts to kill a rat?"
Sirius looked at her and really begun to realise that Ivy didn't know what happened with her parents, "Ivy Lilith, the rat deserves to die. Don't worry, I'll make it as painful as bloody possible!"
Ivy wasn't sure who he was talking about? Lupin? Snape? Someone else she didn't know?
"Okay, psycho! This is the exact reason they have Dementors guarding every inch of the castle! The second you're seen, you're gonna be sent straight back to Azkaban. Now, I don't know who or what rat you're tryna kill and why, but to be honest, I don't think I want to know. The point is, everyone assumes you're out to kill Harry."
"Harry?" Sirius breathed out. "Little Harry, I would never hurt him. Ever. I am trying to keep him safe and they would dare think that I would hurt baby Harry!"
"Well, he's not exactly a baby anymore and you're not helping your case. Look, it's clear you're going through a lot right now but you need to calm down and control yourself. I could help you, maybe, if you tell me what you need to do," Ivy tried reasoning with him.
Sirius paced weirdly, bouncing on his feet, "I need to kill the rat. I need to find that bloody rat and kill him!"
Ivy shook her head as he mumbled to himself and went off about a rat. It was clear to her she wasn't going to get any straight answers as his mind seemed to be all over the place.
