"Alam mo na kung ano 'yung sakit na ipinadama sa'yo pero gugustuhin mo rin na maranasan ng iba? Gano'n ka ba ka-petty? Get a fucking life, Myles."
"You don't know hard it was for me, too, to witness my best friend with no ounce of will to live each day that passes by."
"But if you truly wish for Myles's life to be better, don't lead her into something that would ruin her life even more."
Myles slammed her hand, that's currently holding a glass that was once filled with whiskey, onto the bar counter after she downed her third shot of alcohol. Simula nang magpunta siya rito, kanina pa siya binabagabag ng mga salitang narinig niya mula kila Casey, Jamie, at Alex- at kanina niya pa ito gustong mawala sa isip niya.
It's been almost an hour since she had arrived. Wala siyang ibang ginawa kundi uminom at matulala buong oras na lumipas habang hinintay niyang sumunod si Jamie sa kaniya.
Makalipas ang ilang minuto, nag-vibrate ang phone niya. She opened it to find out who texted her.
Jamie:
> Di ako makakasunod pre sensya na kailangan kasi ng fam ko ng tagadrive amp
> Sa kwarto mo ka na lang muna magpakalasing baka di ka makauwi pag sa bar
> Ingat ka Myles ah text mo na lang ako pag may kailangan ka
"Fuck." Bulong ni Myles sa sarili pagtapos basahin ang message ni Jamie sa kaniya.
Nag-reply na lang siya ng maiksing text message bago ibulsa ulit ang phone niya. She downed every last bit of liquid in her glass before asking the bartender to refill it again.
Habang hinihintay niya ang kaniyang inumin, may isang babaeng umupo sa tabi niya at nagsalita. "Hey there, handsome. Got some company around?"
Myles let out a chuckle and responded, not even bothering to take a glance at her direction. "Supposedly." She answered shortly.
The woman raised her brow, slightly disappointed. "Oh? You've been stood up?"
Myles shook her head, "Nah, I was just waiting for my best friend to accompany me. She had a family errand to run kaya 'di siya makasunod."
"That's a shame..." Sabi sa kaniya ng babaeng katabi niya ngayon. However, her words were in contrast with her tone, as she was even relieved that Myles was alone. "Mind if I accompany you for tonight, then?"
Myles shrugged, "Sure, I don't see why not? Seeing you sitting beside me already, I don't really have much choice, 'no?"
The woman laughed, "Buti na lang pogi ka. I would've poured my drink all over your head if you aren't."
"How fortunate..." Myles said with sarcasm, rolling her eyes.
"By the way, my name's Harriet." The woman, now known as Harriet, introduced herself with a smile and a flirty wink, holding her hand out for a handshake.
"Myles." Maikling pakilala ni Myles sa sarili, accepting the offered handshake.
"Wow... kahit pangalan, you sound so charming."
Myles smirked, "Thanks. Go thank my dad for that."
Harriet chuckled at her remark before leaning in, "You're so interesting, you know that?" She stated, her voice dropped to a teasing whisper. "By the way, matanong ko lang, what made you end up in here in the first place? Mukhang problemado ka kanina, ah."
