"You- w-what are you doing here?!"
Before Myles could ask anything else, footsteps and voices began filling the lobby.
Classes had just been dismissed. Great timing, by the way.
Students scattered into the hallways and lobby, laughing and talking among themselves.
And then someone noticed them.
"Wait."
Another student stopped walking.
"Is that-"
"No way."
"Holy shit."
"Si Max ba 'yon?!"
Myles's stomach dropped.
Within seconds, the whispers spread.
"Max is back? As in ex ni Myles?"
"Akala ko ba sa States na niya tinuloy studies niya?"
Someone immediately pulled out their phone.
"Bro, I think she's probably here to get Myles back."
"After everything that happened?"
"Five years din 'yon, teh. May something pa talaga 'yan!"
"Imagine if magkabalikan sila, pa'no na si Casey?"
"I'm pretty sure Casey's just another one of Myles' many rebounds."
"Akin na lang si Casey kung babalik pa siya kay Max."
As the crowd around them grew, Myles could feel her chest tightening.
"Can you guys get out of here? There's nothing to see." Myles tried to dismiss them but nobody listened.
Dani, who's now actually known as Max, meanwhile, stood completely still. She looked around at the students surrounding them, her expression slowly becoming increasingly amused by what's happening.
"Myles." Max muttered.
"What?" Myles answered sharply.
"Can we get out of here so we could talk?" Max asked, intentionally letting everyone else hear.
"Hala, mukhang magbabalikan nga sila!" A student from the crowd exclaimed.
Myles, on the other hand, looked at Max seemingly annoyed by the chaos that the latter is causing from her presence alone.
Talking again to Max after everything she's done was the least of what Myles would wish for. However, given their current situation, for a brief moment, she almost said yes to getting away from the lobby.
Until another voice came from behind the crowd.
"Myles!"
Myles immediately recognized it.
Jamie.
Oh no.
Alex stood several feet away with Jamie, biglang nawala ang ngiti niya nang makilala kung sino ang kaharap ngayon ni Myles. And Jamie followed her gaze, eyes immediately widening as soon as she realized as well.
"...Max?" Jamie muttered,
but Alex was the first one to let out a strong reaction. "What the fuck are you doing here?!"
"Alex..?" Bulong ni Max sa sarili nang makita ang dating kaibigan. She shook her head, letting out an amused smirk. "I see you've reconciled with Myles and Jamie."
Alex's expression hardened even more. "Don't change the subject, Alcaraz. Answer the fucking question. What are you doing here?"
The surrounding students immediately grew quieter. Most of them had probably never seen Alex this angry before.
