Sabay na naglakad papasok sa building ng SMU sina Myles at Casey. Alam naman na nilang pagtitinginan talaga silang dalawa ng mga estudyante sa hallway once na makita nila silang magkasama. What they didn't expect was the amount of judging stares and whispers they'd receive, as if hindi sila naririnig ng dalawa.
"Anyare? Diba pinu-push away ni Casey si Myles dati?"
"Kaya nga, ba't magkasama na sila ngayon?"
"Gets ko pa kung kasama nila sina Jamie and Alex, eh."
"Mukhang 'di rin natiis ni Casey si Myles."
"Sabi na eh, duda ako sa study first agenda niyang babaeng 'yan."
Casey pretended not to hear while Myles chose to ignore them intentionally. None of them matters to the two anyway.
"Malabong hindi siya ginagamit lang ni Myles para kalimutan si Max."
That's when Myles's jaw tightened. Dapat ay lalapitan niya ang estudyanteng nagsabi no'n kundi lang hinawakan ni Casey ang kamay niya.
"Myles." She whispered softly, leaning closer. "'Wag mo na silang pansinin."
Myles looked at her, her expression softening a little as Casey calms her down by caressing her hand using her thumb. "Then they shouldn't have talked like that about you."
"Or about you." Casey countered quietly. "You're not who they think you are, alam ko 'yon."
Myles exhaled slowly, her hand intertwining with Casey's. "I know, pero... I don't like na you're being dragged to it."
"So? Hayaan mo silang mabaliw kakaisip sa gusto nilang isipin." Casey said casually, shrugging.
Myles chuckled, "I knew I liked you for a reason." She stated before planting a kiss on Casey's cheek.
Before Casey could respond, someone tackled Myles from behind, causing her to lose her grip on Casey's.
"Tangina mo talaga, Myles! Inuuna mo landi kaysa sa best friend mo!" It was Jamie, who looked like she wants to strangle her best friend until she turns purple. "Buti na lang talaga naka-motor si Alex kanina. Quota na ako kay sir 'pag na-late ako!"
Inalis ni Myles ang pagkakakapit sa kaniya ni Jamie at humarap sa kaniya, "Eh kasi naman, nung tinanong ka ni Sheila if okay lang na hindi muna kayo magsabay, pumayag ka naman."
"Aba! Malay ko bang dededmahin mo message ko sa'yo?!" Depensa naman ni Jamie.
"Eh ano ba kasi 'yang surprise niya sa'yo?" Casey asked out of curiousity.
"Nag-short hair siya!" Tuwang-tuwang sagot ni Jamie, na para bang batang pinahiram ng iPad.
"Harap-harapan mo ba kong ginagago, James?" Myles deadpanned.
"Hindi mo maiintindihan, teh! Nag-picture nga kami kanina sa CR ta's nag-IG story siya. Kala tuloy ng iba may bf ako." Natatawang kwento sa kanila ni Jamie. "Ang angas niya, shet! Napakanta ko ng 'Pretty Girl' by Clairo dahil sa kaniya. And I could be a pretty girl, I'll wear a skirt for you~"
Casey couldn't help but laugh at Jamie's dramatic singing, while Myles just pinched the bridge of her nose, clearly done with her best friend's antics this early in the morning.
Just then, another familiar voice joined them. "Good morning, guys."
It was Alex, walking towards them with her usual laid-back expression and two motorcycle helmets in hand. She gave the three of them a smile as she stood beside Jamie.
"What's going on here? Bigla-bigla ko na lang naririnig kumanta si Jamie." Alex asked.
"It's just her downbadism showing." Myles answered.
