"Oh... you're awake."
"Alex..." Bulong ni Myles sa sarili as soon as she made eye contact with the said person.
Casey looked back and forth between them, feeling some weird tension rising. Napatayo na lang siya before excusing herself, saving her self from the uncomfortable situation.
"Ahm... Lex, baba lang ako ah? Samahan ko na lang muna si Jamie sa baba." Paalam ni Casey kay Alex bago tumingin pabalik kay Myles, "Pagaling ka, Myles." Sabi niya at binigyan siya ng ngiti, waving shortly before exiting the room.
Myles smiled back bago siya tumingin sa direksiyon ni Alex. She gave a raised brow to the latter when she noticed that Alex was just frozen in her spot.
"Oh? Ba't nakatayo ka pa rin diyan? You can sit down on the edge of my bed, you know?" Myles suggested, patting the empty space from beside her.
Alex shook her head, rejecting the offer. "It's fine. I'm just here para dalhan ka ng food." Sabi niya bago ilapag ang tray ng pagkain na hawak niya sa nightstand sa tabi ng kama ni Myles.
"Wow, chicken noodle soup? Ikaw nagluto?" Tanong ni Myles.
"Nope. Banned ako sa kitchen niyo, remember?" Alex answered, letting out a chuckle after. "Si Jamie nagluto, bumili lang ako ng ingredients since I don't want to use anything from the kitchen without permission."
"You didn't have to. You can use anything from the kitchen, well, except sa cooking skills mo." Biro ni Myles at ngumisi, earning a light smack on the shoulder from Alex.
"Siraulo. Just shut up and eat."
Natawa na lang si Myles before she sat up on her bed, making herself comfy, and taking the bowl of hot soup in her hands.
The room fell silent, except for the sound of spoon making contact with the bowl and Myles taking a sip of the soup from it. Nabigyan sila ng maikling oras ng katahimikan bago mapansin ni Myles na mukhang malalim ang iniisip ni Alex.
"You okay? Something on your mind?" Tanong ni Myles.
Alex let out a sigh before smiling, a smile that doesn't quite reach her eyes. "I'm just thinking of... these obstacle of a feeling that I have for Cass."
"Oh? What about it? And now that you've mentioned it... mukha ngang awkward sa inyong dalawa kanina."
"Wala... Na-real talk lang naman ako earlier in the car, nung papunta kami here sa inyo."
Flashback
The car ride was silent. Sa loob ng sasakyan, tanging tunog ng radyo ang pumupuno ng katahimikan habang nagmamaneho si Alex, while Casey is seated on the passenger seat, looking out the window as the passed by tall buildings.
Alex couldn't stop glancing at her, as if debating whether or not to say something. Nahalata naman ito ni Casey, kaya siya na ang unang bumasag ng katahimikan.
"Lex, may gusto ka bang sabihin?" Tanong ni Casey binaling ang tingin mula sa pagmamasid sa bintana papunta kay Alex.
"Uhm... kasi," Alex hesitated, pursing her lips and taking a quick glance at Casey before focusing her eyes back on the road again. "Actually, no, uh... nevermind..." Sagot niya at pinilit na ngumiti.
Halata na ni Casey na sa tono pa lang ni Alex ay hindi ito wala lang, kaya naman she tried to push the latter into saying what's bugging her mind.
"Sabihin mo na, Lex. Ayoko ng binibitin."
Napailing si Alex bago siya huminga nang malalim. "Fine... uh, Sky mentioned something kasi dati... about your high school sweetheart..."
