"Myles, let's talk after class. There's a lot of things I wanna discuss with you."
"No you're not," Jamie opposed before Myles could give Alex her answer, "Not without me, that is."
"You can't-"
Jamie cut her off before she could finish her words, "Best friend ako ni Myles, Alex. Sasama ako, sa ayaw o sa gusto mo."
Alex looked at Jamie for a while. Seeing the latter's determined look, she had no choice but to just give in and let her have her way.
Napabuntong-hininga si Alex, "Fine. But please, let us have our talk before you get yourself involved in the situation."
"Walang problema." Walang pagdadalawang-isip na sagot ni Jamie sa kaniya.
With hands in her pockets, Alex gave Myles one final look before walking away from them.
--- Flashback (5 years ago) ---
"Cassy, look oh!" A ninth grader Alex told Casey of the same grade, grinning widely as she waves a semi-thick book that she's holding, "Introduction to Medical Technology- bigay sa'kin ni ate!"
"Hala?! Sanaol!" Casey exclaimed, trying to reach out for the book from Alex's hands, "Pahiram ako, Lex!"
"Ayoko nga~" Alex teased, sticking her tongue out and raising her arms for Casey to grab it above her, knowing fully well that the latter wouldn't be able to because of her height.
Pleaseee?" Casey pleaded, trying to persuade Alex by pouting and giving her puppy dog eyes.
"Hindi ko papahiram sa'yo..." Sabi ni Alex kaya naman mas lalong nainis si Casey.
"Edi sige! Ikaw na may ate na kaparehas ng pangarap sa buhay!" Casey gave in out of frustration, trying to act like she doesn't care if Alex wouldn't let her borrow the book.
Casey was about to walk away and not talk to Alex after that. However, her face immediately softened upon hearing the next words that came out of the latter's lips.
"Ibibigay ko na sa'yo 'to."
Casey turned around to face Alex again, confusion written on her face. "H-huh?"
Alex chuckled, knowing that she was able to trick Casey. "Hindi ko papahiram sa'yo kasi gusto ko talagang ibigay 'to sa'yo. Here." She handed the book over to the younger.
"T-totoo ba?" Tanong sa kaniya ni Casey, trying to clarify if okay nga lang ba talaga kay Alex na ibigay sa kaniya 'yung libro.
"Of course! Inaasar lang kita kanina, 'no! Plan ko naman talaga na ibigay sa'yo kasi alam ko na you love anything MedTech related." Paliwanag sa kaniya ni Alex, "Pero if I were to just hand it over to you, where's the fun in t- Ow! Cass-!" She was cut off when she felt a hard smack on her shoulder.
"Nakakainis ka talaga, Lex! Kahit kailan!"
All is well because Casey and Alex just hugged it out at the end of the day.

"You good there, Cassy?" Tanong ni Alex kay Casey, who's currently struggling to keep up with her pace because of her heavy bag, "Sabi ko kasi sa'yo iwan mo na 'yung iba sa locker mo eh. You won't need ALL of that book para mag-review sa exam."
"Hindi naman pwede na magre-review lang ako ng ibang subjects after natin i-exam yung tatlong subject sa isang araw? Pa'no ko mare-retain 'yung pinag-aralan ko no'n, eh last minute na?" Pagdadahilan ni Casey habang pilit na binubuhat ang mabigat niyang bag, which happens to keep on slipping away from her shoulder.
