It's around 8 am when I hear the doorbell ring

It's around 8 am when I hear the doorbell ring. I roll in bed, waiting for Sonny to take care of it. Then, the doorbell rings for a second time and there's no noise in the corridor.

I finally get up, defeated by this horrible sound, and reach the door. I forget to peek through the eyehole before opening it and immediately regret it once I see who's at my door: Juniper.

I probably look like a total wreck: rebel hair, an old t-shirt covered in holes and I'm in boxers. Why didn't I put some pants on to answer the door?

"Good morning." Juniper shines a radiant smile. She doesn't notice I'm in boxers (or maybe she pretends she didn't see me like this). "Is Sonny home?"

"Yeah, he's sleeping." I peek through my shoulder to make sure no one has come to answer the door. "I can go get him if you'd like."

"Yes, please." I walk to the side, still holding the door.

"Come in, don't stay out there."

"Thank you." She gets in and goes to sit on the couch. I, on the other hand, close the door and go to my bedroom to get some pants. I walk to Sonny's bedroom door and knock:

"Hey, Sonny, wake up. Juniper is here." I knock harder. "Sonny!"

"I'm awake, let me just put on some pants." I chuckle at our similarity.

I go to the kitchen to make myself some coffee and offer Juniper some:

"He's coming." I pour coffee into two mugs and give her one:

"Oh, thank you." She smells it softly. "Do you have milk by any chance?"

"I think we do." I grab her mug, pour some milk into it, and then give it back to her. "There you go. It's a bit cold, I'm sorry."

"No biggie." She takes a sip and her lips curl up. I guess I did make her a drink she enjoys.

"Hello, Juniper." Sonny peaks from his room. I know he changed his shirt and put on some jeans; I frown because he looks much better than I do. "You wanted to talk to me?"

"Yes." She puts down her mug on the coffee table. "Yesterday, when you saw us..."

"Yeah, I didn't see you at the bar." He sits on the armchair.

"That was because Avril was very disturbed. She saw you sharing a cigarette with a girl."

"Yeah, and?" Sonny looks oblivious to his mistake - sometimes I don't know if he does it on purpose or if he's just dumb. Juniper sighs.

"Sharing a cigarette is something Avril finds deeply intimate. She told me she shared one with you. You hurt her feelings when you did it with another girl." Juniper looks calm, although she's trying to be somewhat stern.
