It has been a week since my date with Milo. We barely had time for each other during the week, yet he found the time to pass by the house and ask me on another date.
This morning we walked to an European coffee shop, bought a few pastries and coffee, and now we're sitting next to each other on a bay window:
"Am I allowed to say it here?"
"No. People might know us here." I nod agreeingly and sip on my latté. "You like your coffee?"
"It's really nice." I wipe the steamed milk off of my lips with a napkin. "It has been years since I had coffee this good."

"Ah..." He stays silent for a minute while I bite down on my croissant. "What does your mother do?"
"She's a lawyer."
"A big one?" He asks reluctantly.
"Ever heard of Laura Lockwood?" Milo's eyes grow big, as if he didn't have any eyelids. Oh, he does know her. I was expecting him to not know who my mother was.
"Your mom is Laura Lockwood?"
"Yeah." Now I feel my cheeks burn because I feel like a cocky snob. Maybe I shouldn't have told him...

It was my fault I didn't see the signs, they were all in front of my face: her clothes always look soft and neat, her shoes are shiny and brand new, and even her thin white pajamas look made out of pure organic cotton. Even now she's well-dressed: Levi's jeans, a soft white t-shirt, and... is that a cashmere cardigan?
This girl has standards that I won't be able to meet.
I feel a cold sweat form and drip from the back of my head down to my neck. People must be looking at her and then at me, thinking I'm a clown for even trying to impress her.
