The house is silent when I wake up

The house is silent when I wake up. Milo is sleeping next to me, hugging me as if I were his childhood plushy. His breath is running warm on my neck, but I really have to wake up to go pee.

Once I manage to break myself free from his embrace, I try to fix the T-shirt I'm wearing before leaving his room. I quickly run to the bathroom, do my business, and go to the kitchen to fix us some breakfast:

"Juniper?" A sudden voice startles me, and I jump in place. I look back and see a very confused Jax staring right at me.

"Hi, Jax." I quickly hide my body behind the kitchen's wall. I'm not allowing Jax to see me without a bra and in my undergarments. "I left your key on the kitchen table."

"I saw." He nods Didn't know you had slept over." I'm trying really hard not to show him how embarrassed I am.

I should've dressed myself before leaving Milo's room.

"It was a last-minute decision. Avril needed me out of the house for the night." Jax gives me a look that suggests he believes something that never happened took place here last night. I feel the urge to justify myself, but I don't feel like I'm that close to Jax.

"What are you two talking about?" Milo emerges from the hall, a knight in shiny armor.

"Hey, Holt!" Jax throws himself to Holt, putting his arm around Holt's shoulders. "Juniper was just telling me about what you two did last night." Jax grins widely, as if he just caught us.

"I-"

"You meant our dinner?" Holt furrows his eyebrows together, confused. "It was good, but what's the thing about our dinner?"

"I meant about her spending the night."

"Her friend needed the house. She asked if I'd let her stay for the night. What's the big deal?" Jax takes off his arm, slightly stunned.

"You mean nothing else happened last night?"

"Nope." He answers confidently.

"Alright, if you say so." Jax shruggs. "Also tell your girlfriend to put on some clothes before Hunter sees her." Jax leaves the livingroom, while me and Holt don't move an inch until we hear Jax's bedroom door close. I feel my cheeks burn and a wave of shame traveling through my body.

"Are you okay?" He approaches me and places his hands around my arms.

"Yeah." I'm suddenly very self-aware of how I'm dressed and how Jax just saw me. I bury my face in Holt's chest, and his arms wrap around my body. "I just feel ashamed. I didn't know someone was awake... I just wanted to fix breakfast for you."
