I hear a phone ringing in my dreams. Except it wasn't in my dreams: our phone was ringing.
I took a look at my alarm clock, and it marked 03:17.
Who the fuck is calling at this hour?
Some possible answers come up in my head: could be my mom (very unlikely, since my mom only calls during the day); could be Jax's or Sonny's parents (also very unlikely, since Sonny barely phones his parents and Jax calls his almost every day); or maybe it is...
"June?" I immediately get up, as if an adrenaline shot was injected into me. But when I finally stood up, the phone stopped ringing.
I debated whether I should return the call or if I should go back to bed.
The ringing comes back, which leaves me no choice but to answer the call. If someone's that insistent, it must be important.
When I made my way to the living room, I noticed the storm unrolling outside: wind singing in our windows and rain throwing itself against the glass. I let out a frustrated growl and finally picked up the phone:
"Hello?"
"Finally! I thought you guys wouldn't pick up!"
"Hunter?" I recognize the voice immediately.
"Yes! It's me!" He says, desperately.
"Why are you calling?"
"Hum..." I can hear strong rain and the voice of the wind on the other side of the line. "My flight was canceled." He sighs loudly. Or maybe it's the wind, I don't know. "And they can't get me in the next one."
"Okay." I scratch the back of my head. "So what do you want me to do?"
"I spoke to my dad." He confesses, shame taking over his voice. "He doesn't want me to return yet. He thinks being away from home is doing me some good, so he wants me to stay."
"So you're staying?"
"Yeah, unfortunately." I can almost picture him right now. "Can you please come pick me up from the airport?" That question slaps me hard.
"Don't you have money for a taxi?"
"I did, but only for one ride to the airport." I pinch the cane of my nose. I can't believe this is happening to me right now.
"Didn't you ask for a refund due to your flight?"
"Yeah, but they'll refund it to my dad's creditcard in a few days."
I'm balancing things in my head: I could be a good pal and get Hunter a taxi to return home, or I could be a dick, hang up, and go to sleep.
"I'm getting you a taxi."
"Thanks, Holt! I'm on terminal 1."
