Juniper and her best friend are spending the summer in Hawaii at her friend's aunt's house. They have finished their exams and are looking forward to enjoying the warm weather, sipping on cocktails, meeting hot guys, and attending concerts on the be...

"Holt! Phone for you!" I hear Jax yell from the living room.
"Coming!" I get up from my bed and grab the phone once I reach the living room. "Hello?"
"Milo, son, tell me this is not true." My mom's teary voice sounds from the speaker.
"What's not true, ma?"
"Your girlfriend... she came here to tell me she's pregnant with your child." My mom starts sobbing, and I hear her continuously blowing up her nose.
"Ma..."
"And you know I never liked that girl! Yet now you're tied forever!"
"Mom, listen, Lucy's not pregnant." It's like a switch goes off and my mom immediately stops crying.
"What?"
"Lucy's lying. She has been cheating on me with some guy."
"B-b-but she came all the way over here just to tell me!"
"Did she show you the test?"
"Well..."
"An ultrasound? A blood test?" My mom stays silent, and I sigh. "Lucy lied a lot, mom. You know I wouldn't be this careless."
"I thought so too, but that girl never showed up here with as much respect as she has just now..."
"She wanted me to buy into the lie. Please don't let her in. She's not my girlfriend anymore."
"Ok." I hear sniffles from her, which breaks my heart. My mom doesn't acknowledge the hurt my dad put her through, yet she acknowledges even the slightest pain I might be in. Sometimes I'm not sure if my mother is the strongest woman alive or the weakest for not leaving her abuser.
"I have a new girlfriend now."
"Oh, really?" She sounds lively and more cheered up.
"I think you'd love her." I can't contain my smile. "Her name is Juniper, she's Laura Lockwood's daughter."
"The lawyer?"
"Yeah." I agree.
"Poor girl... I can't believe her dad would do such a thing." Wait, what?
"What? What did her dad do?" Juniper never talked about her dad, which is odd. She also doesn't talk much about her mom.
"Oh, son... It was a long time ago. I'm not sure I remember. I think he was cheating on her mother and then running away... or was he a criminal? I'm not sure, but it was something like that." I might have a terrible father, yet I have a father.
Now that I think about Laura Lockwood, Juniper looks nothing like her except for the facial structure and slim figure. Miss (or Mrs?) Lockwood has sharp features and stern looks, she's a brunette with brown eyes and always has her hair in a tight bun during interviews. And June... June is so sweet and angelic, with soft features, blonde wavy hair, and blue eyes.
