Toni's POV
I jumped up from my nap from my phone ringing. I had had a nightmare of Tatianna but in this dream.. I was at her funeral and she woke up saying that I never saved her from him. I had sweat all over me from that dream..it seemed so real. I was frightened by my phone ringing. I reached over to my night stand and picked up my phone. It read, Department of Education. I rolled my eyes thinking it was one of the kids school. I answered the phone and put the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Hello is this Mrs Edmonds"
"Yes speaking"
"Hi, this is Mr. Johnson from the Department of Education in Georgia. I'm calling regarding your daughter, Tatianna Edmonds. Our records show that she is not currently enrolled in school. If she is not enrolled within the next week, we will have to involve the police and social services."
"There must be some mistake. I sent Tatianna to live with her father in Georgia, and he assured me that she was enrolled in school."
"Mrs. Edmonds, our records are very accurate, and we do not make mistakes in these matters. If Tatianna is not enrolled in school by the end of the week, there will be serious consequences."
"I understand. I'll contact her father immediately to resolve this. Thank you for informing me."
"You're welcome. Please ensure this is taken care of promptly."
I hung up the phone, my face held a mix of worry and determination. I immediately dials her ex-husband's number..I truly hate this son of a bitch.
"Keri where the fuck is Tatianna?"
"What?"
"Don't play fucking dumb Keri. I just got a call from the Department of Education. They said she's not enrolled in school. You told me she was!"
"Toni"
"What? You know what let me talk to her myself. I knew I couldn't trust you. I was trying to figure out why I wasn't getting any return phone calls or text you probably told her to ignore me because you knew what were doing."
"I'll go get her." I sighed in relief that I'd get to hear her voice at least. After a moment I heard a click on Keri's side of the phone.
I sat up in bed realizing Keri hung up.
"This son of a bitch."
I went to call him back and it went straight to voicemail. I called him over and over then realized he blocked me. I went to call Tatianna's phone and it did the same thing.
