The spires were awake. The multitudes of drones writhed, their eyes gleaming yellow. Aiming to crush Nori and Doll, the spire slammed down as the two cores scrambled away frantically. But the width of the spire was far too great.
Forming a shield with the Solver, Nori pulled Doll close and braced for impact. But an orange explosion shattered the spire's base, making it teeter.
A blue flash of steel appeared in the distance, its railcannon trailing smoke as it flew through the air and landed on the spire's flank. Stabbing his yellow arm deep inside, V1 slammed down, tearing a deep gash while he descended toward Nori and Doll.
"Get to the complex and leave this place. Khan and his workers are in danger." V1 said, whiplashing to the spire while swapping between his shotguns to rapidly build up damage. As Nori and Doll skittered away, V1 fired his whiplash again, soaring through the air as the spire started to descend upon him, curving around the edge and plunging his fist deep into the wall of corpses, the knuckleblaster detonating to create a massive gash that poured oil.
Spasming, the spire reeled and whipped back, trying to throw V1 away. Grabbing onto the limbs of countless drones, V1 charged his Piercer revolver to its limit before firing the charged shot into the spire's base. With oil gushing out, the spire fell, dispersing into a cascade of undead worker drones.
Without a word, V1 jumped off the collapsing spire, slamming on the heads of the undead, crushing their oilless shell into bits. With his nailgun out, V1 placed a magnet into the ground as the drones slowly advanced, staggering and limping, their eyes staring, gaping at V1 with unfathomable hunger.
"You must be quite desperate now, Solver," V1 called.
"Using everything at your disposal to end me first, And concluding that I would constantly need blood, or oil to maintain my ways of combat," He continued.
"But, you should know that I, like you function with a central AI, a program that learns by itself or by input. And do you think I had only one, limited data to refine my arsenal?"
A glowing tentacle broke out from the fallen spire, approaching V1.
//What are you getting at?//
"More than 130,000 testers in the final war, human and machine alike trying out and utilizing my AI in differing scenarios, all with different styles of combat and mindset, some playing it like a game while others treated the simulation process like a real-life war were used when I was being built. I'm saying that you can't and won't pin me. Regardless of the methods used, it will be futile, for I have overcome the singularity."
Handling foes without blood was easy if V1 didn't suffer any damage. So V1 minimized the chance of getting mauled by the waves of the mechanical undead by continuously using his wings to slam storage, distancing himself while using his rocket launcher to fire a delayed shot which resulted in a bright red explosion.
Carving a hole in the approaching drones with the malicious railcannon, V1 moved back and forth, baiting the drones for an easy kill. Teeth snapping, one of them lunged as V1 shoved his elbow on its head, crushing it. Realizing he needed to finish them off more quickly, V1 jumped, slamming on the walls before propelling himself upwards before he hit the ground, retaining momentum.
Like a charged spring, he flew into the air as the drones amassed, yellow eyes blank and jaws mindlessly snapping at the blue streak above. V1 equipped his new firestarter launcher while he fell, letting the flammable oil rain upon the bloodthirsty drones.
