The circus tent was unusually quiet, the soft rustle of fabric the only sound besides the light shuffle of feet on the dusty floor. Ragatha stood confidently beneath the bright stripes of the tent, a soft smile playing on her lips as she grasped a worn, faded softball in her gloved hand. It had been a while since she'd had the chance to teach someone something fun, and today, Gangle was her student.

Ragatha gestured for Gangle to come closer, her other hand already positioning herself into a graceful, exaggerated wind-up. "So, here's the trick," Ragatha said, a playful gleam in her eyes as she held the ball up to Gangle. "You just wind your arm back in a big circle, like so..." She demonstrated the motion, her arm sweeping behind her like a pendulum. "Release at the bottom, nice and smooth, then follow through, and catch. Got it?"

Gangle, her long limbs awkwardly attempting to mirror Ragatha, nodded hesitantly. She didn't look quite convinced. Her mask, tilted slightly askew as always, gave her a somewhat puzzled appearance.

"Uh, sure," Gangle said, a flicker of doubt crossing her expression as she eyed the ball. "I mean... I'll try."

"Great!" Ragatha cheered, a wide grin forming on her face. "No rush. Just take your time. You've got this."

Taking the ball from Ragatha, Gangle hesitated for a moment before trying the motion. She swung her arm back in an almost mechanical motion, too stiff and rigid, and—without releasing the ball—completed the arc with no sense of fluidity. The ball stayed clutched tightly in her hand as she dropped her arm, looking up at Ragatha for approval.

"Like this?" she asked, her voice soft, full of uncertainty.

Ragatha paused for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah, exactly. Just a bit looser, okay? Let go of the ball right at the bottom of your swing, and it'll float right to Jax."

Gangle's mask shifted slightly, her posture relaxing as she nodded again, feeling a little more at ease. She reared back for another attempt, this time trying to loosen up her body, her arm following through with a little more grace. The ball finally left her hand, spinning slightly as it headed towards Jax.

Jax, who had been standing a few feet away with his back to them, straightened up when he heard the whoosh of the ball cutting through the air. He glanced over his shoulder at the incoming pitch, his eyes flicking down to the bat in his hand. With a lazy swing, he connected with the ball, sending it sailing through the air.

Gangle barely had time to react as the ball struck her mask. The loud crack echoed throughout the tent, and Gangle let out a startled gasp as the impact shattered her comedy mask into pieces. The broken pieces tumbled to the floor, leaving her stunned, blinking in confusion.

"Oof!" Gangle exclaimed, stepping backward as she instinctively covered her face with her hands. Her mask lay shattered, the once bright colors now marred by cracks.

Ragatha's face turned an instant shade of exasperation. "Jax! What did you do?!"

Jax, seemingly unfazed by the damage, straightened up and looked over, his lips curling into a slight grin. "What? It was an accident. I didn't mean to hit her mask."

Ragatha stormed over to Gangle's side, her face clouded with frustration. "Are you okay, Gangle?" she asked, her voice softer now, the anger dissipating as she knelt down to check on her friend.
