~✮ Y/N Perspective✮~
The air in Caine's office was thick with a feeling I couldn't shake—a mix of excitement, dread, and something darker, like a slow creep of inevitability.
The tension in the room felt suffocating, as if everything—every move we made—was leading up to something that could change everything. The place, with its dark corners and cold, sterile lighting, almost seemed to be alive, watching us, waiting for us to slip up.
We had made it inside undetected, as planned, but there was still the looming sense that this could all go horribly wrong.
I glanced at Ragatha and Jax, their faces tight with the same sense of urgency that had gripped me the moment we entered.
Despite the fear, there was a flicker of hope in my chest—this was it. We were going to uncover something. We had to.
My heart pounded harder as we gathered around the desk, moving as quietly as possible. Every creak of the floorboards felt too loud, too risky.
My fingers twitched as I scanned the room, each breath seeming to rattle my chest with anticipation. My mind raced through a thousand scenarios of what we might find, but I wasn't prepared for what was right in front of us.
Jax moved first, his usual cocky bravado gone for once, replaced with a subtle determination that told me he understood the weight of this moment too.
Then, it appeared. A computer—sleek, modern, and glowing faintly in the dimness of the room. It seemed so ordinary, almost out of place here.
The rest of Caine's office was chaotic, unsettling. Yet, this computer... it looked like it belonged to someone who lived in the real world, someone with a life that wasn't bound by these twisted circus walls.
I took a hesitant step forward, and without waiting for anyone else to make a move, I reached for the keyboard.
The click of the mouse broke the silence like thunder, and I froze, suddenly aware of just how loud that one small sound was in the stillness of the room.
My fingers shook, hovering over the keys, a sick sense of dread pooling in my stomach.
For a moment, I almost expected the screen to flash an alert or Caine to burst through the door, catching us in the act.
But no.
The office remained deathly quiet, as if the world outside was too far away to reach us.
With a quick breath, I opened the desktop. The icons were almost unremarkable—nothing like the circus-themed chaos I had expected. Instead, everything seemed... normal.
Too normal. It felt wrong. It felt like we were poking around in something we shouldn't. But I couldn't back out now.
I clicked through a few folders, each one taking me deeper into the web of information Caine had hidden.
And then it hit me, as I opened a folder marked News, the cold, harsh reality of what I was about to uncover.
My stomach dropped as I scanned the files, and there, at the top of the list, was an archive of articles from the real world—Earth. Articles that had no business being here, in a place like this.
The weight of the discovery crashed down on me.
This wasn't just some random circus of chaos. This was something far more sinister. Something connected to the world I came from—my world.
The truth that had eluded me for so long, the mystery of how we ended up here, was starting to form before my eyes.
Without thinking, I typed in my name—Y/N—my fingers stumbling over the keys in my haste. The screen flickered, and then, with a sudden clarity, the result appeared.
