Balin was in shell-shock at what he was witnessing in the bathroom mirror. His hellhound fever had turned him into a hellhound.

"B-Balin?" asked Loona, peaking her head through the bathroom door. "You OK?"

"What is...?" he stuttered in shock, ...and a little fear bubbling inside him. "What's happened to me?"

"Kiddo, you're..." said Loona in her surprise too. "You're a hellhound?"

"Oh no." he began tearing up. "No, no, no, no! It can't be. I CAN'T BE!"

"Hey, hey, hey." Loona tried to soothe him, only for Balin to run out of the bathroom crying.

The boy tried to run for his bedroom, but then missed the door having zoomed past in some sort of new speed and accidentally bumped his gut into the kitchen counter.

"Oh my God, BALIN!" she gasped, as he laid on the floor clinging onto his tummy. "NOW are you okay?"

"GAH!" the little shouted in pain and fear, as Loona kneeled down to him and rubbed his belly.

"I know, I know how you feel." Loona soothed him. "It took a long time for me to get used to my super-sp..."

"My tummy!" Balin continued as he felt the fur on his stomach being stroked by Loona. "Why is it so hairy?"

Loona then showed a nearly heartbreaking look on her face, and Balin noticed it. So to make her feel better and to hide his own tears as well, he crawled into his room to try and hide from her as he closed the door.

In his room, the boy tried not to look at himself in the mirrors on the sliding closet doors, as he tried to poof back to his original young and loveable human form, the way Loona could.

"Come on, Balin!" he grunted to himself with determination. "You've seen Loona do it many times. Surely you can. Do it!"

Loona heard it him try to do it with her hellhound hearing and knocked on the door for the boy.

"Balin?" she softly spoke. "Meal?"

"Loona! Please don't come in!" the boy replied from the other side. "I'm trying to become a human again!"

"C'mon, it's just me." she spoke again with more sincerity. "I don't think it's bad."

"But Loona, I'm... I'm a..."

"A monster?" Loona finished for him.

The boy soon stopped hearing Loona say that and opened his bedroom door slightly, seeing her worried look.

"Uhh... a hellhound." he replied quietly. "I'm not a monster. Am I?"

"No, but, I'm glad you don't think that." Loona then opened the door a little more. "Still, what's so wrong about that?"

"Nothing. I just..." the boy tried to find an answer, but couldn't. "I..."

It was then Loona wrapped her arms around the boy slowly for a hug, a few seconds later, even began scratching softly behind his ears.

Melting to the feeling, Balin then started sobbing into Loona's upper-abdomen as he hugged her back.

Feeling this embrace, Loona then got the strength to carry the little boy-turned pup and sit down with him on his bed, continuing to scratch his ears until he ran out of tears to shed. ...Other than fur.
