The girl trudged along the street side

The girl trudged along the street side. Her h/c hair was in a simple three strand braid tied with a black elastic. Her shirt was tattered and torn, at the edges, covered in dirt and patches. Her s/c skin was covered in dirt and very pale. Her e/c eyes were dull and hardened. Her pants weren't much better than her shirt, torn, dirty but it was still enough to keep out the elements, a ragged poncho hung off her shoulders reaching her waist, was the only source of warmth for her, and her brown boots were wearing thin allowing the cold to set in. Her stomach growled, but she had no money to buy food and she couldn't steal enough without getting caught. She wandered around the area, pausing to look at a large structure, the courousant Jedi temple. She shook her head and kept her head down walking past. When suddenly she bumped into an obstacle in her path causing her to fall on her back. She jumped up and bolted down a nearby street. The figure chased after her, cornering her in an alley. The figure was a boy about 2 years older than her, with tanned skin, bright blueish green eyes and brown hair in a short ponytail. His white pants were tucked into his redish brown boots that reached his knees. His arms were covered by a deep cream long sleeve shirt and an undershirt that was the same color. His tunic had a long v shape that was covering the sides of his legs. A brown belt with a silver buckle held it in place. Judging by the single shoulder length braid on his left side you assumed he was a Jedi padawan. You scooted back up against the wall. "Hey, hey calm down. I'm not going to hurt you." He soothed. You still shrank back. "Look," he said pulling a cylinder with a small flat disk, a smaller cylinder hollow with a rounded cut out, off his belt and throwing it aside. "See?" You relaxed a bit, but tensed up when he inched closer. He backed up a few steps and then sat down with his legs crossed "Hey, it's alright. I bet you're really scared huh?" He gave a gentle smile. You nodded quickly. "I understand that. I'm a Jedi padawan, I want to be a Jedi knight but sometimes I'm scared of messing up." He explained. You didn't notice he carefully scooted closer. "Do you have a name? I'm Caleb dume." He said holding his hand out to shake. "Y/n" you quietly squeaked shaking his hand. He looked her over, noticing her ragged clothes and fearfull eyes. "I can take you home, would that be okay?" "I guess." She mumbled. He quickly retrieved his lightsaber, and the two were off. She led him to a small makeshift hut, with a cloth for a door. "You're joking right? This is your hideaway or something?" He questioned. "Nope this is it." She confirmed. "Your parents?" He cautiously asked. "I don't have parents." She replied looking at her feet. The young Jedi picked the puzzle together, this girl was a street kid. He gently grabbed her hand, it felt so tiny. "I want to help you, okay. Do you know how to um fly a ship?" He asked. "I can fix them if that counts." She sqeaked. She didn't pull away, Caleb felt a special connection to y/n, one he couldn't explain. It's like he was supposed to help her. She silently walked with him back to the Jedi temple. He stopped outside of a room, next to the door was a small bench. "I'm going to talk to my master, see what we can do okay?" You simply nodded. She looked at her feet. "Alright." He said. He gently slid his hand under her chin, you felt his skin was rough, calloused but he was still gentle with you. "Hey just breathe okay?" He instructed. He entered and you sat on the bench next to the door. You staired down at your boots, your stomach in knots, and full of butterflies. Your hands were shaking so bad that it could be seen. You suddenly felt a wave of calm and reassurance washing over you. You didn't know how it happened but it helped. The door hissed open and a pair of boots came into veiw. "Hello child." A voice greeted. A woman about 30-35ish stood in front of you, her Jedi robes covered by a brown cloak. Her dark brown hair was tied back in two braided loops. Her eyes were full of croustiy and warmth. "Hello ma'am." You responded with a squeak. "Caleb told me about you. I believe you and my padawan share a unique bond." She continued. "You are welcome to stay with him if you'd like." She smiled softly.

2 years later
You were just fixing a problem in a star fighter when a small gentle kick to your leg caused you to wheel out to find the grining face of your unofficial adoptive older brother. "Hey buddy, what's up?" You asked. "I just wanted to say hi to my favorite sister." He joked. "I'm your only sister Caleb." You pointed out. "Yeah that's why you're my favorite." He replied. He ruffled your hair aynoing but friendly. "I gotta go, but I'll meet you later. You are not gonna win uno again." He smiled. "We'll see about that." You fired back. You slid back under the ship, getting back to work. After a while you walked into a storage unit with a power converter in hand. Your eyes scanned the shelves, plucking out the part you needed. You put it together and walked back to the door. You turned the handle but it wasn't opening, you jiggled it once again only to find it was locked. You heard laughing outside and you knew it was Calvin Zornora. You never knew why he never liked you. You pounded on the door and yelled at the bullies to let you out. It was no use. You faintly heard the parts drop to the floor, your heart hammered in your ears. You started to hyperventilate and pace. You were claustrophobic; you hated being in small cramped spaces. You dropped to the floor your back against the wall. "Okay y/n you need to breathe, in and out, panicking isn't going to-going to-" you mumbled before the world went black. Beep beep beep. You stirred awake in the medical bay taking in your surroundings. You became aware that someone was holding your hand. Looking over you saw your brother sitting in a chair, asleep, his hand clutched tightly in your own. You gently called him. "Buddy?" You called. His eyes flew open and his pupils widened then dilated like they always did when he saw you. It meant he cared. He squeezed your hand and your hand automatically squeezed back, happy to see your brother. "I'm right here, rockstar. I'm right here." He soothed giving you a hug. You wrapped your arms around his taller frame, happy to have someone who cared.
