OTTILIE VIRSES POV
Since our second period subject is about potion making and Alchemy.
Our laboratory has shelves lined with jars of rare herbs, mystical minerals, and ancient tomes on alchemy.
“Today,” Mrs. Anderson began, “we’ll explore the art of potion making and alchemy. Potion making isn’t simply mixing ingredients together. It requires balance between chemistry and magic.”
I quietly wrote notes while Jenna and Dylan looked completely alive with excitement.
“Now,” Mrs. Anderson continued, “for today’s activity, I want everyone to pair up.”
Patay na.
Pair activity.
"Sorry, Ottilie! I'm with Dylan!" she said cheerfully.
I stared at them in disbelief.
Wow.
“Well, look at that,” Plutus drawled beside me with an annoying smirk. “Seems no one else wants you. Congratulations, little witch. You’re stuck with me.”
Sinamaan ko 'to ng tingin, "Ulol."
He lazily leaned back in his chair. “Please. No need to sound so devastated. I’m clearly the best option here.”
I let out a frustrated sigh, knowing there was no way out.
"Fine," I muttered, shifting my things a little closer to him as he casually leaned over the table like he owned the place.
"It's not so bad, Ottilie. At least Plutus is... capable," Jenna teased.
"Capable of being annoying," I mumbled under my breath.
Plutus chuckled quietly. “Come on, Ottilie. Deep down, you enjoy being partnered with me. Don’t deny it. I’m entertaining.”
Feelingero talaga.
Then Mrs. Anderson clapped her hands.
“Alright everyone, gather the following equipment from the shelves: an alcohol burner, tripod, beaker, stirring rod, scale, measuring spoons, and a crystal vial.”
The entire class shuffled out of their seats, heading toward the shelves at the back of the room.
"You get the beaker and vial," Utos ko sa kan'ya. "I'll grab the rest."
Plutus just raised an eyebrow at me.
“Bossy today, aren’t we?” he grumbled. “Fine. I’ll help before your tiny human brain overheats from too much responsibility.”
I rolled my eyes and made my way to the shelves, grabbing the stirring rod, scale, and measuring spoons. As I reached for the last item, Dylan bumped into me by accident, causing me to drop the spoons with a loud clatter.
CLANG!
"Oops, sorry, Ottilie," Dylan said, laughing nervously.
I forced a smile.
From the corner of my eye, I saw Plutus watching the whole thing without emotion in his face as he walked over with a beaker in one hand and the vial in the other.
"Having trouble, evil witch? Or did you purposely do that?" he teased, his voice low and mocking.
“You know,” he continued while following me back, “if you’re going to be clumsy, at least wait until I’m fully watching. That fall lacked dramatic effect.”
Before the lesson started, Mrs. Anderson cleared her throat.
“Before we begin, each pair needs to get one ingredient box from the front. Inside are all the ingredients needed for today’s potion.”
“Sit down, witch,” he muttered. “You look exhausted just existing. I’ll get the box.”
Mabuti naman at nagkusang-loob ang isang 'yon.
"I love potion-making days," Jenna whispered to me, giving me a wink as Dylan got their box.
When he returned, he dropped the box onto our table with a thud.
“There,” he said lazily. “Try not to destroy the ingredients.”
Mabilis kong sinilip ang loob ng kahon.
Inside were neatly arranged ingredients: lavender sprigs, powdered moonstone, chamomile essence, and several tiny glass vials.
Of course everything looked perfectly organized.
“Today,” Mrs. Anderson announced, “we’ll make a Serenity Draught, a calming potion used to reduce anxiety and help with sleep. This will be an excellent introduction to balancing magical properties with real-world chemistry.”
Then magical instructions appeared on the board behind her.
“Pay close attention,” she warned. “Even the smallest mistake in measurements can cause disastrous results.”
Bigla tuloy akong kinabahan.
With my luck lately, ewan ko na lang kung masusurvibe ko 'to ngayon.
To be continued...
