"Dad!" a girl, around 15, yells at a man in front of a fireplace.
"No, Valerie... This is what is best." he sighs heavily, turning away from her.
"No its not!"
"And how would you know?" he snaps as he turns back towards her.
She starts to walk towards the door. "It's my life isn't it?"
"Duckling, wait-"
"Would you stop calling me that?!" she pauses to catch her breath. "Can't you see what they're doing?" she gestures out of the window towards a large building, supposedly belonging to a religion.
"Of course I do-"
"Then do something! They treat anyone with an opinion other than their own like absolute shit!"
"Valerie, I know! They did the same thing to me. But this is the only way to guarantee we can stay here."
The girl steps closer to the door. "What makes you think I even want to stay?"
"You don't mean that..."
She opens the door. "I'm going down to the beach..."
