Lyra paced around on the ship. She knew that if she went after Val, the others would most certainly leave them behind whilst under the siren song. Every now and then, she had to quickly set the boat back before they got too far away from Val.

Back under the water, Val and her mother were desperately struggling against the merfolk to get to each other. "Valerie! Let her go, Zale. She has nothing to do with my crimes."

The older merman, Zale, turned around to face her at this remark. "She has everything to do with both of your crimes, Cordelia. She was why you stuck around humans for so long - which, might I remind you, is what led you to get caught - and her and her friends have trespassed onto our turf. Do our laws still truly mean nothing to you?"

"How has she trespassed? Her friends maybe. Her? Look at her neck Zale. She's like us!"

"I see no tail. Do you?"

"We don't know if she has the morphing ability! No one had the opportunity to teach her!"

"Enough! She will be sent to Mr Maverick to be dealt with as per our, and every other territory's law states."

Val only watched on as a woman she barely knew desperately tried to defend her. Seeing as the mermaids and mermen who were meant to be watching her were distracted by the ongoing dispute, the researcher slowly reached for a dagger she had been recently keeping concealed. Within a second, she slashed the arm that was pinning her down and quickly swam to tackle Zale. Unfortunately, without a tail, she wasn't fast enough and was stopped by a yellow merman.

"Nice try, half-breed. You weren't as fast as you thought you were... No matter. Speed in the water won't help you where you're going." Zale approached her and got closer to the ground to flick her in the forehead. Val, in response, swiftly bit his finger as he retracted it. "Brat."

"Idiot." she finally spoke.

"Guards. Take her to the prisons. Let her be with her mother. It may be her last chance.
