They continued on their way to Hateno Village while he explained who the Yiga Clan were. Long ago, after Calamity Ganon's attack ten thousand years ago, the King of Hyrule grew worried about the power that the Sheikah held. He worried that their futuristic technologies would be too much for the kingdom of Hyrule, and so he banished the Sheikah from the kingdom. The sheikah went quietly, off into the hills where they settled Kakariko Village.

However, there was a group of sheikah that was angered by the King's decision, and they split from the sheikah to form their own group called the Yiga Clan. The Yiga Clan swore revenge against the Kingdom of Hyrule, and pledged allegiance to Calamity Ganon. The clan had worked in the shadows and caused problems for Hyrule ever since. Essentially, they had become a terrorist organization that recruited members and created disturbances across Hyrule.

By the time he had finished his explanation, they had almost reached Hateno village, having followed the path for a while longer as it had winded around a small lake that was the source of the river they had been following upstream. Across the lake along another path, they could see the Hateno Sheikah tower up on a tall cliff above where the river started and the lake ended. A hill had taken them up on a small ridge around the lake and up to a forest where the path split. The right fork would take them around to the other side of the lake on the ridge and up to the tower, whereas the left fork would take them up a small hill through the forest up to the village, which sat on a gradual sloping hillside. As they traveled up the path and into the town, they were starting to ask him questions.

"So now you've just gotten on their bad side? Isn't that bad for us?" Amber asked in confusion.

"When you put it that way, it sounds bad. But I know what I'm doing. I know their fighting techniques and where their secret base is. Besides, once we find Link, they won't mess with us." he told her confidently. Amber could only shrug.

"If you say so I guess. So what are we going to do now that we are here?" she looked around at the lively village around them.

Hateno Village was slightly larger, as well as much more spread out than Kakariko. There were no sheikah here, and this town was populated by normal hylians. The structures of the homes were much less exotic, and looked quite similar to homes from the Middle Ages, and most of them were single-storied, made of wood and what appeared to be a hardened white-beige clay-like material. The route that they had traveled into town on had become the main street through the center of the village.

They passed a series of houses and shops, including the general store, the local clothing shop, the famous Kochi Dye shop, known for being the only place across Hyrule customers could dye their clothes. Just a little farther up the road there was the Great Ton Pu Inn, which stood up on a steppe, and was the only building in the village with two stories, which contained beds for travelers and tourists. Past the Inn was a tiny bridge over a small stream and from there the route became a path of lazy switchbacks up the hill as the eastern parts of the village consisted of farmland dug out of the hill.

Just outside the entrance of the Inn, down the small set of steps, there was a set of small stables where they could keep their horses. They stopped in front of the Inn and Jordan told everyone what his plan was.

"Okay, so I was thinking we were gonna live here in Hateno for a while. We can leave the horses here in these stables while we get ourselves a few beds here for the night. Then we can go see the town."

"Awesome! Let's do it!" Olivia said, always one for learning about new cultures.

So when they reached Hateno Village, they went straight to the Inn to pay the clerk, Prima, for beds, they went and explored the town. First, they visited the dye shop.
