"I don't feel well, Lex. I feel sick." Iris said, pressing a hand to her stomach. Alexis shot her a confused glance, raising an eyebrow before Iris widened her eyes at the unspoken question, then narrowed them & kissed her teeth. "No, bitch. It's not that."
"How would you know unless we take a test?" Alexis asked.
"Because—" Iris began, hesitating as she tried to find a way to explain without revealing Jasiah's private situation, because it was no one's business but his. "I'm not. But if it makes you feel better, I'll take a test later & send you the results." She tried to dismiss the conversation, promising something she actually had no intention on doing.
"We don't have to wait until later, I've got one in my purse," Alexis fixed with a mischievous grin before quickly heading off to grab it.
Iris furrowed her brows, her eyes following Alexis in confusion. "Why—Lex, why do you randomly have a pregnancy test in your purse?"
"Pregnancy scares, duh!" Alexis called back from the living room, rummaging through her purse. She shuffled her wallet & keys aside before reaching into the inner pocket. "After Jasiah beat Trevon's ass so bad, I just wanted to be sure his kid wasn't swimming around. Thank God it ain't, test came out negative." She shrugged casually as she pulled out the extra test from a pack of two. "Here. Go take it now."
With a huff, Iris took the test from her hand. She didn't want to deal with this, but she wasn't about to argue. She turned & made her way to the bathroom, closing the door behind her with a soft thud.
As she stood in front of the mirror, Iris mumbled under her breath, "I can't believe I'm actually doing this shit right now." She'd never taken a pregnancy test before & she knew she wasn't pregnant, but if it would put Alexis at ease, she figured she'd take it.
