⌖ TEARS FOR YEARS| O67. ‹ ⚜ › ❝ jasiah! promise me you won't do it again nigga! ❞
— JULY FIFTEENTH 6:30 A.M. ᐟ
Jasiah sat slumped at his dining table by himself with a plate of food untouched in front of him. The smell alone turned his stomach, making it twist until he thought he might be sick again.
His head was splitting, a deep, pulsating pain that seemed to crawl behind his eyes & down the back of his neck. Every beat of his heart made the ache worse, like nails scraping inside his skull. His vision swam in & out of focus, & sometimes the room tilted, making him grab the edge of the table to hold himself up.
His eyes felt like they were swollen shut, gritty from sleeplessness. They burned every time he blinked, but closing them only made him dizzy. A constant drip from his nose kept him sniffling, wiping it on the back of his hand, only for it to start again seconds later.
He was shaking so badly it felt like his bones were rattling under his skin. The tremors wouldn't stop, his legs bouncing & his hands twitching. Goosebumps from feeling so cold crawled over his arms even though his whole body radiated heat, sweat soaking through his shirt until it stuck to him. His skin prickled like fire ants, burning & freezing at the same time.
Inside, it was worse. His chest felt tight, his heart pounded fast & uneven. Anxiety pulled at him with a panic he couldn't shake. His thoughts were a mess... fragmented, screaming at him to just take one line, just one, because anything would be better than this. But another voice, a smaller one, told him he had to hold on if he wanted his family back.
He hadn't moved in half an hour, or even said a word. He had already thrown up the pain killers he took & his jaw ached from clenching down on his teeth so hard to stop himself from shaking. This was the stage he had to go through. No shortcuts. No relief. Just pain.
He gripped the edge of the table again, staring down at the plate like it held the answer to everything he needed. If he was going to make it through this, he had to suffer it.
