JULY FIRST

The floors that were once a beautiful white and gray marble were now splattered with maroon. Thick blood draining from the man's head as his body laid lifeless after collapsing onto the floor that was once only at his feet.

Emotionless, Jasiah watched as the puddle of blood spread out and got bigger by the second. Watching the irregular grey lines in the marble floor slowly disappear under the blood was satisfying to him. Everybody else that stood in the same room with him stood in silence, not risking to possibly be the next one he killed without hesitation.

He furrowed his eyebrows, spotting a white paper protruding from the man's shirt pocket. Squatting down, he extracted the paper and unfolded it. It was a page torn from the Bible, smeared with wet blood but still legible.

𝖬𝖺𝗋𝗄 7:20-23
20 𝖧𝖾 𝗐𝖾𝗇𝗍 𝗈𝗇: "𝖶𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖼𝗈𝗆𝖾𝗌 𝗈𝗎𝗍 𝗈𝖿 𝖺 𝗉𝖾𝗋𝗌𝗈𝗇 𝗂𝗌 𝗐𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖽𝖾𝖿𝗂𝗅𝖾𝗌 𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗆.
21 𝖥𝗈𝗋 𝗂𝗍 𝗂𝗌 𝖿𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝗐𝗂𝗍𝗁𝗂𝗇, 𝗈𝗎𝗍 𝗈𝖿 𝖺 𝗉𝖾𝗋𝗌𝗈𝗇'𝗌 𝗁𝖾𝖺𝗋𝗍, 𝗍𝗁𝖺𝗍 𝖾𝗏𝗂𝗅 𝗍𝗁𝗈𝗎𝗀𝗁𝗍𝗌 𝖼𝗈𝗆𝖾—𝗌𝖾𝗑𝗎𝖺𝗅 𝗂𝗆𝗆𝗈𝗋𝖺𝗅𝗂𝗍𝗒, 𝗍𝗁𝖾𝖿𝗍, 𝗆𝗎𝗋𝖽𝖾𝗋,
22 𝖺𝖽𝗎𝗅𝗍𝖾𝗋𝗒, 𝗀𝗋𝖾𝖾𝖽, 𝗆𝖺𝗅𝗂𝖼𝖾, 𝖽𝖾𝖼𝖾𝗂𝗍, 𝗅𝖾𝗐𝖽𝗇𝖾𝗌𝗌, 𝖾𝗇𝗏𝗒, 𝗌𝗅𝖺𝗇𝖽𝖾𝗋, 𝖺𝗋𝗋𝗈𝗀𝖺𝗇𝖼𝖾 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝖿𝗈𝗅𝗅𝗒.
23 𝖠𝗅𝗅 𝗍𝗁𝖾𝗌𝖾 𝖾𝗏𝗂𝗅𝗌 𝖼𝗈𝗆𝖾 𝖿𝗋𝗈𝗆 𝗂𝗇𝗌𝗂𝖽𝖾 𝖺𝗇𝖽 𝖽𝖾𝖿𝗂𝗅𝖾 𝖺 𝗉𝖾𝗋𝗌𝗈𝗇."

Balling the paper up in his free hand, Jasiah tossed it into the pool of blood. The blood seeped up into the fibers of the paper as it started to soften and sink into the blood, eventually turning entirely red.

"Somebody clean this up," Jasiah finally commanded, standing up straight and tucking his gun back into his pants. He felt the lingering warmth of the metal against his hip, a reminder of the bullets that had been fired. Moving to the sink, he washed the small amount of blood from his fingers, his thoughts swirling in silence.

"Syn," his older brother Azriel called out, approaching him from behind. "You good? You a lil too quiet and it's spooking everyone out over there."

Jasiah's eyes remained on the hot water running over his hands. "Dominique forgot who I was, she went ghost for so long. So I'm just sending her a reminder ... to jog her memory. Tell them to put the nigga in a bag, we putting him at her door step" Once his hands was clean of blood, he turned around to face his brother while ripping a paper towel from the roll to dry his hands off. "What?"
