The sunlight creeping through the sides of the curtains had Lucas opening his eyes and stretching out his arm to get his phone. It was seven in the morning. He looked at the empty spot next to his bed. For a while now, his bed had been empty, void of all the different women that used to frequent it almost every night, whereas now, there was only one person who he wanted to be there.

Looking at the ceiling, Lucas pulled the covers over his bare torso as his mind drifted to the events of the previous night that ran through his head so vividly and made him perplexed at the life he was living. There was one thing on his mind: Zoe.

Out of the blue, his mind flashed back to the kiss they shared last night. An actual kiss. When he leaned down to kiss her, it came naturally and without a thought. Of course he had thought about kissing her for a long time, ever since they first met, but last night was when he just couldn't hold it back.

It was a perfect kiss. He could still feel her soft lips, the sweet taste of her mouth, and the way his hands felt pressed against her small waist. That was not the part he hated. The part he hated was when she kissed back for a minute but then pushed him away and walked to her door.

Never in his life has a woman pushed him away when he was kissing her. Never. God, I don't understand this woman! He had girls throwing themselves at him left and right, asking him to buy them things, asking him to invite them to parties and galas, texting him non-stop, and begging for his attention whereas the one woman that he truly liked and wanted, pushed him away when they shared a passionate kiss. Ughh! He was bewildered.

The reason he even kissed her was because of the night they had. They were being flirty and talked about things that people would talk about on a first date. Not to mention all the glances they had been sharing and the way it felt when they touched each other that all led Lucas to believe she was ready for his embrace. But she wasn't. He realized that he was being selfish. He wanted to respect her and if she didn't want to be kissed that way, then he should have respected that as well and not kissed her. It wasn't like he couldn't control himself. He often found himself thinking about her in many ways that she would get a restraining order against him if she found out.

He decided that the best thing to do was to give her space. If she pushed him away, that probably meant she didn't like him and even though Lucas was liked by every woman he talked to, he was just going to have to accept the fact that Zoe didn't.

He also decided to get out of bed and get ready for work. Sleeping for long periods of time and lying in bed thinking about a girl wasn't his thing. Ever since they had received more information about Thanat, the FBI team had been super busy with finding the right opportunity to strike and take down the biggest drug operation in Carlow City.

Lucas took a shower, grabbed a bite to eat, and drove to the office. When he first walked through the doors of the large building, Tyler was standing there waiting for him.

"What are you doing?"

"Hi to you too!"

"I mean what are you doing standing here?" Lucas corrected himself before adding, "And good morning."

"Waiting for you."

They both started walking to the stairs to get to their work stations. "So you can ditch me again?"

Tyler closed his eyes and yawned. He looked super tired. "I'm sorry about that man. Adana thought there was a burglar but it was just a stupid cat."

"Is that why you're so tired?"

"No! I'm tired because my son kept crying."

Lucas chuckled at how annoyed Tyler was. "No one told you to have a child."
