It had been a week since the incident at the prison. While he was doing better, Lucas still wasn't quite himself, but he was hoping that seeing Zoe later that night would help fix that. He hadn't seen her since the day of the gala. He missed her a lot but there was nothing he could do, they were both busy people, busy with their emotions.
When he got home from the prison that day, the first thing he did was text Zoe and try to start a conversation with her. He didn't know why that day fueled him to just love her like the lack of love and care that his father showed him was something that he could make up for by giving love and care to a woman. It started from there. He asked her on a date and in his mind, he knew that on that date, he would ask Zoe to be his. He had no time to waste. In his heart, he knew he loved her, more than anyone else despite his fear and despite his inhibitions. He was going for it.
He didn't tell her much; just to dress nice and casual and warm. It was getting cold in the November air. The one fact that he tried hard to leave out was that they were going to be on his yacht. She didn't have to know that.
Now that the day was here, Lucas and Zoe were both feeling nervous. They hadn't really been on an official "date". It was just hang out sessions.
Lucas was scrambling around his room to find a nice outfit while Zoe was rushing to do her eyeliner so she could be finished in time. Ever since Lucas told her that he loved her winged eyeliner, she had been putting on like crazy. I hope it's not obvious. She would say to herself.
After thirty minutes for Lucas and three hours for Zoe, they were both done getting ready. Zoe was low maintenance but she could be high maintenance when she wanted to be. It was all worth it. She looked in the mirror and felt proud of her cute outfit that consisted of skinny jeans, booties, and white tank top with a brown cardigan while her hair was softly curled and her makeup was softly applied leaving her to look like a model. She felt good about herself.
She quickly texted Lucas that she was ready and headed downstairs to make sure that Gabe had everything under control before she left. I love my employees. She thought to herself as she felt her phone ring. It was Lucas letting her know he was waiting for her in the back.
Quickly rushing to the back, she saw Lucas waiting outside of his car but this time, he was not by himself. He had a bouquet of flowers with him.
"Wow! I love them." Zoe grabbed the flowers and automatically smelled them.
"I'm glad."
"You didn't have to."
"Shut up and get in."
She laughed at his snarky comments. Even with flowers, he hasn't changed.
She got in the car and they rode together to the 'secret' location that Lucas told her they were going to. "I really wanna know where we're going."
"You'll find out in about 10 minutes."
"But I wanna know now."
Giving her a side eye, Lucas said, "You're acting like a ten year old."
She burst out laughing and slapped his arm. "What if you're kidnapping me?"
Lucas gasped sarcastically. "I can't believe I didn't think of that sooner."
It wasn't clear to her whether he was just super funny tonight or if she had the giggles. She had been told she laughs too much by many people but she didn't care, they were the wrong people for her anyway. Her real friends and family never cared about how much she laughed.
"Favorite color?" Lucas said out of nowhere.
"What?"
"What's your favorite color?"
