"Emmanuel Redford, hotel CEO and one of the millionaire giants of Carlow City has been arrested for alleged ties to a notorious drug mo-."

The news channel was disconnected as Lucas angrily changed it.

"CEO Redford, of Red's Hotel, was arrested last nig-."

Another T.V. channel went quiet. Lucas threw the remote control across the room where it hit the wall and left a little dent. To say that he was beyond anger was an understatement. He was feeling the same way anyone would feel when they found out that their dad, their bestfriend and the person that cared for them most, was working with a notorious murderer, drug dealer, and mobster.

"How could he fucking do that?!" Lucas said to himself. There was steam coming out of his ear and the rage he felt was unlike any other he had felt in many years, even more than the rage he felt when he found out his parents were getting a divorce due to his mom's affair.

"Fuck!" He screamed, slamming his fist into the nearby kitchen wall. It left a hole in the wood. But there was nothing he could do. After the agents had examined the material closer yesterday, they issued warrants to arrest all the people that were involved in Thanat's operation, no matter how big or small, and that included Lucas' dad who had been funding Thanat's operation in hopes of making a profit after the drug hit the market. What hurt him most was that he thought his dad was one the best human beings on the planet but it turns out that was an illusion.

Looking down at his knuckles, Lucas saw that they were bleeding profusely. "Fuck!" He cussed again. He had never felt more stuck in his entire life. Never. He knew he couldn't go to work because they said he would not be impartial in the investigation. He didn't know it but the FBI was conducting an investigation against him as well. After all, the child of a criminal is more likely to be a criminal so they wanted to get out of the way before letting him come back.

Although there were many high ranking people criminalized due to the data they received from Thanat's computers, Thanat himself had no piece of information on the files. He knew how to keep himself safe. He didn't have files on himself on the computers nor was there anything that would lead back to him. He was clean. And he was smart.

Lucas put his hands in his hair and paced back and forth in the sun lit room. Checking his phone, he saw the missed call from his dad that he got in the morning. Part of him wanted to answer it and tell him to go to hell for all that he did, but another part of him, the greater part, just decided to ignore him. He didn't know how to talk to him. He didn't know how to talk to his own father after finding out that he was another low-life criminal willing to hurt others and the community just to make more money.

The doorbell ringing got Lucas' attention. He thought it was probably his brother so he quickly went to it and opened it. It wasn't his brother. It was Zoe.

"Lucas!" She exclaimed, walking through the door without him inviting her in. "Are you alright? I just heard the news." With a slight movement, Zoe put her hand on his shoulder.

Lucas quickly pushed her hand away and pointed to the open door. "Get out."

Standing her ground, Zoe slammed the door shut and looked into his eyes. "I'm here because I care about you. I'm not going to get out."

"I will have you thrown out."

Why is he being like this? She thought to herself. "Lucas, I'm sorry that this is happening to you. You don't deserve it, and I know you are nothing like your fath-."

He abruptly cut her off, "What do you know about my father?! Please save your pity talk."

"I'm not pity talking, I just care-."
