Outside was still dark as Will stepped out of the bathroom after taking a shower. He had a towel wrapped around his waist and he walked over to the dresser to grab a clean pair of boxers.
As he slipped them on, he glanced over at the bed. A still curled up ball of darkness was resting close to the edge, nearest Will. Nico's face was squished against the pillow, his hair puffing out of his face on each small breath. The blankets were bunched around him, Will had done what he does every morning; he carefully extracts himself from spooning Nico, trying his hardest to not disturb the younger man's rest. Then he would take the blankets and build a nest around him, supporting his back, so it would feel like Will was still there. That usually sent him instantly back to sleep, if he woke up at all.
Will smiled softly at him, taking a couple steps forward to place a kiss to his forehead. Will really couldn't help himself. Nico was just too cute.
As he did so, Nico mumbled something incoherent and shifted his head, nuzzling into Will's nose. Will couldn't help the chuckle that escaped him as he brought a hand up to Nico's cheek to stroke his thumb over his cheek bone. Nico sighed happily and his eyes fluttered, the edges of his coffee brown irises barely visible.
Suddenly, Nico shot up, throwing the covers back and effectively pushing Will back so he almost tripped over the bedside table.
"Nico, what the–" but Will was cut off as Nico dashed to the bathroom, the sound of the toilet seat slamming open as Nico flung it up. Will rushed after him, panic shooting through him.
"Nico?" Will said quietly into the darkness of the bathroom. He could make out a blob of shadow kneeling in front of the toilet, head leaning over the bowl.
Then he heard the retching. Will cursed and flipped on the light switch, accidentally blinding both of them. Then he dashed over to Nico's side, immediately pulling the hair out of his face and rubbing his back.
Nico groaned and his knuckles turned white from gripping the brim of the toilet. Tears spilled from his eyes as the gagging would not cease.
"Shh, baby," Will said softly, "you're gonna be okay, it's okay. Just let your body get it all out," Will placed a kiss in between Nico's shoulder blades, and rubbed circles in his back soothingly.
"Will," Nico mumbled, his voice raw and broken. He only managed to get out that one word though, before he continued retching.
"I know," Will whispered. "I know, Nico. I'm here, sunshine, I'm here."
Nico spilled more tears and his body shook and ached with each gag. Shivers sent down his spine and sweat coated his face and neck.
After some time, Nico had seemed to be done, now panting over the toilet bowl. Will helped him to his feet and led him to the sink. There, Nico washed his hands as Will cleaned off his face with a damp cloth. Will had Nico brush his teeth, then he turned on the shower.
Will helped Nico slip out of his clothes and guided him into the shower, the warm water cascading down Nico's back, washing his sweat away. Nico swayed on his feet, his eyes droopy with fatigue and wooziness. Will helped his rinse off, keeping his steady long enough to get the job done.
"Will," Nico whispered, gripping onto his husband's broad shoulder. Will reached up and squeezed his hand.
"You're gonna be okay, darling," Will reassured. He caressed Nico's face. His face was pale, a yellow tinge to his skin that made Will nervous. "I'm going to take care of you. Don't worry." Will kissed him on the forehead, then led him out of the shower and onto the shower mat, drying his body for him as Nico stood limp, shivering.
Once Nico was dry, Will brought him to the edge of the bed and sat him down as he scrounged for clean pajamas. He dressed Nico in some black boxer briefs and one of his own hoodies, since he knows Nico loves them.
