''Being near someone doesn't mean you're any closer to their heart.''
Diary Entry, November 22nd
I sat near Ethan at lunch again today. Daniel was talking to him about basketball practice, and I just sat there, trying not to stare. It's weird, being so close but feeling like there's a wall between us. He's right there, but it's like he's in another universe.
I listened to their conversation, even though I wasn't really a part of it. Every time Ethan spoke, it was like I was hanging onto his words, even though he barely says much. He's so calm, so quiet. Maybe that's why I'm so drawn to him—he's everything I'm not.
I wish I could figure out how to get him to notice me. I keep trying to imagine what it would be like if we actually talked. Would he think I'm interesting? Or would I just be another annoying girl to him? Sometimes, I wonder if he even knows my name.
It's frustrating because I'm right there, and I feel like I'm invisible to him. I know I shouldn't care so much. He's three years older, after all. But part of me keeps hoping that one day, he'll look at me and see something more.
