''Sometimes, the things left unsaid come back louder than ever.''

The room felt like it was closing in on me. Ethan, the Ethan I'd spent years thinking about, was sitting right in front of me, and I'd just revealed all of my embarrassing secrets about him. I could barely meet his gaze.

"I, uh... I can't believe I didn't recognise you," I said awkwardly, shifting in my seat. "You've changed a lot."

"So have you," he replied, his tone neutral. "But I guess we were both young back then."

I nodded, still trying to wrap my head around the fact that I was talking to the Ethan. The same Ethan who had been the subject of countless diary entries. The same Ethan who had been my first real crush.

There was so much I wanted to say, but the words wouldn't come. How could I possibly explain the years of feelings I'd had for him when we barely knew each other? He might think I'm crazy!

He seemed to sense my discomfort because he cleared his throat, breaking the silence. "You don't have to be embarrassed about what you said earlier."

I stared at him, surprised. "You... heard that?"

He gave me a small, almost amused smile. "Yeah. But don't worry—I'm not holding it against you."

I felt my face flush again. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—well, I didn't even know you were here, so..."

"It's fine," he said, his voice soft but reassuring. "Really."

I wasn't sure what to say. What do you say to someone you used to be in love with, but never really knew? The conversation felt loaded, like we were both tiptoeing around something neither of us wanted to fully address.

Finally, I decided to just be honest.

"You were my first real crush," I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. "I was obsessed with you. I wrote about you in my diary like a crazy person. I had all these daydreams about what it would be like to talk to you, but I never had the guts. Can you believe that I even wrote songs about you? like i was full blown crazy. but thinking back it was all these moments that kept my day lively. My friends teasing me whenever they saw you. And seeing you so different made me also want to be myself even if I was different. i started showing my real self. The part of me that was obsessed with 13 korean men or comedians, or maybe the part of me that couldn't stop going on and on about 8 pirates, or maybe the part of me going crazy when 8 full grown ass men act cute. And they liked me more for that. For being weirdly different. SO I guess i have you to thank  "

Ethan listened quietly, his expression unreadable. When I finished, he nodded slowly.

'' That was a lot to comprehend right'' i said with a faint embarrased laughter.

"I definitely had no idea," he said after a moment.

I bit my lip, feeling a mixture of relief and embarrassment. At least now I knew why he never noticed me. He wasn't ignoring me on purpose—he just wasn't paying attention.

And now? Now I had no idea where this conversation was headed, or what it would mean for the both of us.
