I did not proofread so if it sucks, I don't care <3

Kie and I walk with interlocked arms through the huge country club, which is a place I never thought I would be. The anxiety of being surrounded by this many Kooks driving me slowly insane. Pure relief hits me when I see Pope helping his dad on the large lawn, glad Kie and I are not the only Pogues stuck here.

"Sir, hasn't anyone taught you about service with a smile?" I ask the boy in a fake British accent, as he stands with his back to us.

"And do we have to shuck these ourselves?" Kie goes along with it, mimicking my awful accent. Pope goes to face us with an annoyed look before he realises it is us. "Because it might mess up our costumes."

"We wouldn't want that now, would we?" He chuckles with a bright smile. I wrap him in a quick hug before Kie and him do the handshake. "Those accents were bad."

"It was. I was going to let it go." Kie mumbles as I let out a small laugh. Let's not put impersonations on the resume.

"Have you ever seen this many Kooks in one place?" I question, looking around at all the other well-dressed guests.

"Yeah, last year." Pope answers, just as disgusted by the party as I am. He eyes the two of us, taking in our appearances. "In those outfits anyone would think you are Kooks."

"That was kind of the goal. Got to fit in with the crowd, I guess." I shrug, looking down at my far to fancy dress. The expensive material feeling so foreign against my skin.

"Guys, we're in the lion's den." Kie voices, frowning at the sight of all the uptight rich people. Both Pope and I agree with a hum, before Pope turns his attention away from the party and towards us.

"Have you seen JJ?" He asks me, Kie looking up from her champagne in interest. I snatch the glass from her hand, taking a large sip before answering.

"Yeah, I, uhm, saw him at the police precinct, and then he came over once his dad finally quit the yelling. He's okay, just needs his friends right now." I give them a small reassuring smile. "Him and John B are together so they will both be fine." My tone must clearly show that I am trying to convince myself too, because Kie wraps her arm around my shoulders and sends me a wink.

"Please, he will be just fine. He's got the survival instincts of a cockroach." Kies words make Pope and I laugh, knowing she is not wrong. "What are his charges?" She wonders.

"Something about destruction of personal property. He doesn't have to do any community service or anything, he just has to pay off his restitution." I explain, as they both nod along.

"Which is how much?" Pope prays, his guilty look breaking my heart.

"Thirty thousand dollars." I hesitantly reveal, Pope's face turning pale at my words.
