Chapter 23

Adal's POV

Last night definitely was the best night of my life. I got my afreen back and she forgave me. I remember smiling to myself when she said i am still her husband, it took my every strength i had to keep myself from standing up and going to her apartment and beg her to come and stay with me which might probably scare her off, so i tried and convinced myself to take it slow, eventually she'll move in when the time is right, after all we are getting somewhere.

Tonight i planned  on taking her out for dinner, I've done enough things to make her sad all the time she had spent with me and it's only fair if i make it right, nothing I'll possibly do that will take and clear all the scars of the past but i can at least try and give her the best of life she can ever have with me.

I got up from bed here in the hotel i was staying, i decided to spend the night here considering I didn't know the condition id probably find my house in, as it is I hardly ever stay there and I didn't give the maid any message to clean it up which i decide to do later on.

Plugging my phone to the socket to charge because my battery had very well drained due to the call i and afreen had till late at night, i made my way to the bathroom to clean myself up after which i just dragged a pair of shorts on and sat to make calls to prepare for our dinner tonight, i wanted to make it the best.

'' yeah yeah whatever mum, it's not like i ran away from home to come and be with my wife, i just by chance had a meeting to attend in the same country my wife is in'' i said on the phone talking to my mom when i told her i was with Afreen she decided to bring down the earth saying i intentionally ran away without telling her so she wouldn't force me to bring her along because i wanted to spend more time with my wife. Only if she knew i had no idea Afreen was here and i met her by luck and by chance, only if she knew i was only planning on spending a night there but that changed when I realized she was here.

''That's what you'll say, you didn't even tell me you were going to Singapore because you know i know she is there right?'' She said, so she knew, now I'm the one feeling betrayed. Okay it's not her fault I understand.

'' okay mom I'm sorry for wanting to have my wife all to myself after one year of not seeing her, I promise to bring her back home with me'' i said chuckling.

''Now that's what I'm talking about, well i gotta go son, take care of my daughter '' she said.

''What of me? I shouldn't take care of myself ?'' I asked faking hurt.

''Uhn, do what you want with yourself,not that i care''she said chuckling.

''Now i know where i stand mum'' I replied laughing.

''Haha, you know i love you more than life itself '' she said and i grinned.

''I know, i love you to, so much'' i said smiling and after saying our goodbyes we ended the call.

I moved towards the window of the hotel room to have a better view of nature which brought me some surprising sense of relief.

''You know you're the prettiest girl I've ever come across right? I don't even know what was in me  that i ignored the diamond I had  and went after stone, but alhamdulillah as they say it's better later than never and i just pray you forgive me'' i said talking to her picture that I brought along with me.

Taking out my phone i decided to dial her number and to start my day with the peace id be getting from her voice and after four rings my ear was filled with the softness of her voice.

''Assalamu alaykum'' was the first thing she said and I don't know why my heart skipped a beat.
