''Well you better not try anything funny, because....''she said.

''Because what?'' He answered back.

''You wouldn't want anything to happen to your wife and unborn child''

It's either his imagination is taking over now or he has to visit an ear doctor as soon as he gets out of here, but to be sure...

''What did you say?'' He asked.

She did nothing but smile, not just any smile, a teasing smile that annoyed him.

''Would you just stop smiling and tell me what the hell you just said''he shouted and that shook her a bit.

''It's okay, calm down tiger, i was gonna tell you anyway, don't go all wild on me''she said then moved towards Afreen who all along had been still.

''Your wife, Afreen is pregnant, she's been pregnant ever since she was at the hospital you know? Fever ? Sickness? Yeah that.I really praise your stupidity Afreen, how could you not possibly know you were pregnant? Ohhh right first child'' she said nodding in understanding.

''Dr Coloso? Ring a bell? Of course it does, you met him didn't you? And he told you you couldn't give birth didn't he? Well everything was a lie! Big blunder'' she said, Adal stared at her, the only thing reminding him he was a life was his breath, he definitely felt lifeless.

''Awww, you look confused, okay okayy, I'm not mean, I'll tell you I'll tell you the whole story, but of course i need to seat for that''she said signalling for a chair.

She sat as soon as the chair was brought to her ''so where do we begin?'' She asked raising her brows ''no answer? Ohhh shock! I understand, I'll speak you just listen okay? Okay'' she said.

''Once upon a time there lived a couple, beautiful girl and her handsome husband, they were happy, in fact too happy they couldn't see or imagine anything bad happening to them'' she said the 'too happy ' bitterly. She continued ''the girl was like a sister to another but again she betrayed her well not really her but her family leaving her alone with nothing but pain and thirst for revenge, the girl swore to make her pay as that was the only way to make her family pay, her first target was her husband. She found out she wasn't the only enemy and an enemy's enemy is your friend , so they became friends and attacked. They attacked the husband hoping he dies, but he came out alive, they almost gave up until an idea crossed their mind and they kidnapped the doctor's family and they made him lie that he couldn't give birth, oh wait wait the best part, some days later the wife fell ill and they made him lie that it was a normal illness''she said, forget hurt and confusion, now Adal was angry but he couldn't help but laugh sarcastically.

''I'm sincerely a bit impressed, a bit, I actually thought you were intelligent cause everything was well planned, I'm no woman but i know a girl can never hide her pregnancy, how were you planning on hiding that from us?'' He asked and she grinned.

''Ugggghhh!! This is funnnn, I should have called this the best part, well everything was really well planned, she'll definitely be pregnant sick and visit again and that's when we'll take our next step, but what to do we're already here, makes it easier wiping the whole family '' she said. That was the last blow, he didn't even want to give her the chance of making him angrier than he was already.

He got the signal from Ameer and released himself, everything's definitely black, he couldn't see pr understand anything except slapping the excuse of a woman before him.

Right now, not hitting a woman was pure nonsense to him, he slapped her hard twice, she wasn't expecting it, she was trying to recover from the shock.

''How?'' She asked turning to see there was no man to her rescue all the guards had gone unconscious, Aisha was now being held by Rachel who had been freed by Ameer, Adal assumed.

He turned to the one woman in his head, his Afreen, she was free but was still glued to the spot she had been on, he only knew half of what she was feeling now, he ran towards her and put her in his arms, she still didn't move.

''Afreen? Baby listen to me, you have to talk to me okay? Talk to me? Cry ? Do something anything but don't stay like this''he said and a tear dropped down her cheek.

She looked down at her stomach bringing her two hands to touch them, '' I.... I'' she started trying to form words but nothing came out.

''I... Me? Ma... Mo... Mother? I, mother?''she shook her head turning to Adal.

''Adal? We? Together mum and dad? Adal we're going to be parents?!'' She started crying now.

''I'm pregnant Adal! I'm pregnant! How couldn't i know? I.... Ya Allah, she's right, I'm stupid, I should know, who can never know she is pregnant? Adal!''she cried harder in Adal's chest.

''I let them hit me? I couldn't even protect my baby, am i a failure? Of course i am who am I kidding?'' She laughed still crying.

She removed her head from his chest ''you know, you know I'm not even worth being called a mother '' she said touching her stomach ''this child, my child might hate me, hate me because of because....''she looked up with wet face at Laylah .

''Because of you Laylah! Because of you and your stupid quest for revenge! You wanted to take everything from me? But this kid? What has it done to you? Where's your humanity? Are you even the laylah i know? You can't be, the Laylah i knew couldn't even hurt a fly, she loved me more than she loves herself, she rather gets hurt than allow me get hurt, but who are you? A heartless being, you're not just hurting me but wanting to hurt my unborn child? Shame on you Laylah! Shame!'' she shouted.

''You know what?, i hate you! I hate you Laylah!!''she shouted then collapsed in Adal's arms'' i hate you ''she said weakly.

''Shhhh, it's okay, we'll be alright, everything will be fine'' he whispered rocking her in his arms.

Laylah watched them, tears in her eyes, what has she achieved? What has she done to herself? What has she become? Afreen is right, she has become a heartless person, how could she even think of .... She stopped as she noticed Jamal who till now has been noticed by no one aiming the gun at Afreen.

No she couldn't let this happen, she can't shout as it will alert him, she had to do something, so she thought of the only possible thing. Run.

As Jamal aimed the gun at afreen he fired, but out of nowhere Laylah came running and blocked Afreen hitting her straight.

Everyone was shocked as laylah crashed in front of Afreen.
''Laylaaaah'' Afreen screamed taking her in her arms. ''Laylah! Are you okay? Talk to me please '' she begged crying.

''Oh no! Things have gotten out of hand I should escape before they get me'' Jamal said but things weren't in his favour, Ameer was already behind him cuffing his hands.

''Not so fast brother, we haven't spoken yet, but we will in the cell'' Ameer said as Jamal protested but to no avail.

Laylah coughed''I'm sorry Adal, please forgive me, I really am, I don't know what came over me, i know what i did is unforgivable but please find a place in your heart to''she said to Adal then turned towards Afreen and smiled looking down at her stomach ''Heyy kiddo, I'm your.... Bad aunty, I've hurt your mommy and daddy a lot, but I've hurt you the most, if anything happens to me forgive me please? And tell your mummy I won't talk to her because she didn't slap me to bring me back to my senses, but she should forgive me, and I love you both okay?'' Laylah said, she opened her mouth to say something but couldn't and slowly her eyes closed.

''No, Laylah wake up, please wake up. Adal do something, she'll be fine right ? Hospital! Yes hospital ''she said shaking Adal.

''Adal, the FBI are on their way, let's take her to the hospital ''he said and Adal nodded.
Really as much Adal hated her, he owed her for saving Afreen's life, he held Afreen as Ameer carried Laylah and they made their to the hospital.

I also don't know, let's find out in the next chapter.
And yes, we're coming to the end of the book, not sure how many chapters left sincerely but it's definitely coming to an end.
