Chapter 24

Adal's POV

*I hope now you know what it means to mess with me*

''What the hell? Who is this person trying to playing such games with me?''i cursed hitting my hand against the wall in anger and frustration.

It's been three hours since i and afreen arrived home, she's been asking me questions and explanations for what had happened earlier, but i had nothing to tell her, I couldn't possibly tell her''my ex girlfriend well you know aysha, she said we should watch our backs and your life might be in danger?!'' Like seriously?!
I face palmed myself just mere thinking about that.

Alhamdulillah she's gone to shower, and i have to think of something to tell her that would suspend the topic for the mean time.

I moved towards the kitchen to prepare something fast for us to eat, I can't begin to explain how happy i am that i called the maid to clean up earlier and she at least had the mind to buy groceries.

''So are you ready to tell me or is it still nothing important '' i heard her say as she made her way towards me.

I closed my eyes and sighed then turned to her the the biggest most hopeful smile I've ever had''if i say it's nothing important will you let it go?''

''Ha! You wish''she said and the smile vanished, sighing i said''I already knew, was just trying my luck''

She laughed and pulled out a stool and sat on it''so spill husband''

''Afreen, you see the whole thing is quite complicated now, I myself I'm not really sure about what's up,but baby I promise to tell you everything once I understand it. Okay?'' I said and she narrowed her eyes at me before sighing.

Thank God, that's enough sign to tell me that all is well,well for now''

''Uhmm, okayyyy fine,I'll let it go for now''she said and i grinned and walked up to her and pecked her.

''Now that's my girl''i said moving back to pick up the knife to start chopping the vegetables.

''Haha,if you're trying to impress me you're soaring at it''she said laughing after seeing tears in my eyes due to the onions i was chopping.

''Well excuse me miss, did you ask me how I managed without you for one year? Of Course i can handle this''i said and the smile on her face immediately faded and I regretted what i said.

''Heyy!have i ever told you you don't look good with that face? C'mon smile for me please ''i said taking her face in my hands.

''Well you just did''she said smiling and i smiled back taking her in a hug.

''Look, whatever happened between us in the past let's pretend it never did,and from today henceforth we'll never think about it. I can't change the past but i promise to make the future better'' i said with her in my arms.

''Okay mr, I'm starving we should probably get back to cooking ''she said stepping back.

And without saying a word we just smiled and continued cooking.

Dinner was wonderful , i mean after not having her food for one year i sure am supposed to be drooling over it now.

''Afreen?'' I said as we sat in an embrace in a comfortable silence just enjoying each other's company.

''Hmm?'' She said with her head placed on my chest as she continued playing or whatever she was doing with my finger. Allah be my witness theres nowhere I'll rather be.

''Uhmm, do you uhmm, want to go back to new york? I mean like you know our families must both be missing you, in fact my mother has already threatened me and even told me she didn't mind me not coming back but I should bring her daughter in law back to her'' i said feigning hurt and she rose her head laughing.

''Are you serious? I mean yes i know i have that effect on our parents but it seems they love me more''she said and i rolled my eyes at her.

''Ha! You wish, it's because they haven't seen you for long, i bet after some days I'll be everyone's favourite again''i said and she laughed harder.

''Oh my dear husband I doubt you were ever a favourite let alone an again, you know you've always been angry. Angry Adal'' she said and i smiled enjoying this playful and crazy side of hers.

''Okay but on a serious note, I really really really want to go back, i miss home, i miss our parents, siblings, fadeelah, sabrinah, i miss my bed , fluffy i miss everything,so yes i want to go back to New York '' she said.

''You know it had always been on my mind to ask you about that giant creature that's on your bed, and all the girly stuff you have there, i mean you are too big for that''i said and she playfully narrowed her eyes at me.

''Does this giant creature by any chance have to do with my teddy bear?'' She said.

''Well if what you're referring to is the big thing that occupies half of your bed as if it owns it all and can scare someone at night then yes by every chance it has to do with your teddy bear'' i said with a grin and she pouted.

''See, i told you you're such a kid,kitten'' i said pinching her cheeks and she widened her eyes in fake shock.

''Haaaa! I don't like cats, don't call me that ''she said .

''What? I didn't call you cat, i called you a kitten, you know they are so cute and so are you'' i said.

''So angry Adal, you just indirectly called me cute right?'' She said with a smile and faint blush that i would love to call the best colour I've come across in a long time.

''I'm not indirectly calling you cute, i am calling you cute cause you are cute kitten'' i said and she smiled and placed her head back on my chest.

We both didn't know how long we spent there but we obviously didn't care how long we did, all that mattered right then and there was that i was with her in my arms protecting her from aisha, whoever she is partnering with and protecting her from the world.

''I want to go to bed''she said with a yawn and I checked my watch and saw it was pass one in the morning.

''Oh, I'm sorry I kept you up this late, you should get some rest'' i said as we both stood up and made our way upstairs.

Reaching up it all just came to me and i felt totally stupid not to have noticed or thought of it for so long, all this while all that's been in my mind is getting afreen back to move into the same house with me and never thought for once if we're going to share a room or not and how she'll welcome any idea. Way to go Adal.

I looked down and saw her looking back up at me and the whole situation screamed 'AKWARD'

''Uhmm so goodnight?'' She said sounding not sure and i knew she wasn't ready to start sharing a room after all we just got back together.

''Yeah good night,uhm if you need anything I'll be in my room'' i said and she nodded and gave me small smile then turned and entered her room.

Entering my room it felt so cold and and everything in there seemed strange and foreign although it being my own house.

I made my way to my bed and got in feeling contempt with the fact that even if she isn't here with me she's in the room just beside mine, gradually everything will fall back in place.

I closed my eyes and prayed to Allah to give me the strength to protect her from every evil in the world and I eventually slept off.

Assalamu alaykum beloved readers, yes yes yes I've taken forever to update but believe me it wasn't my fault, after i was done with exams i fell ill, but i started updating i just didn't finish. But in sha Allah I'll be fast and try and finish the story in this month by Allah's grace. I hope y'll understand .
