Chapter 36

Five days,five days without Adal,it felt like she was just breathing but not alive,she hadn't eaten properly,all appetite gone,she couldn't even sleep that was totally out of question.

''No he can't just do this,he promised?''she whispered to herself.

''Yes he promised,I wouldn't let him break his promise,he has no right ''she continued.

''He promised,he can't ''she said this time her voice was loud enough for others to hear.

''He can't!!''she released herself from her best friend as she stood up and ran.

''Reen!afreen wait,please wait''she couldn't even recognize who was who,all she did was run.

Finally she reached,opening the door she saw him there,lying down with tubes around him,with an oxygen mask.

She moved towards him lifelessly,seeing his condition hasn't improved for the pass five days.

She remembered when the doctor had told her that he was sorry,the bullet was removed but he had gone into coma and there's no predicted time or day he can wake up,all she could remember after she woke up from when she passed out was calling home and telling them what had happened,she doesn't even remember how they had gotten back home from Italy.

She was by his bed side,she placed her hands on his forehead tears slowly streaming down her face ''you promised remember?you told me you'd come back,but look what you've done to me,to yourself,to us,you know i had already made arrangements for our candle light dinner but you ruined it,you have to plan another one for us,but how will you do that with you lying down in here?you know something?you really don't look handsome in this place and cloth ,just for once come back to me.''she said weeping.

''You remember we have a future yeah?kids to come?i hope you know that?who do you want to call me kitten?i i can't...I can't even sleep,everything seems off without you baby,you know,,I'm just breathing I'm not alive,you really like me in this condition?common wake up baby,come back to me,come back to us,mum,dad,abu,ammi,roka,everyone is missing you,don't you break your promise,I wouldn't let you do that,don't you dare break your promise Adal Ahmad Omar''she was loosing her strength,nothing was happening.

''Don't y..you ddda--aee daree break it''she broke down crying.

The rest of the family had been watching from outside,Adal's mother couldn't take it anymore,she also broke down crying,her husband was trying to comfort her but to no avail.

''I can't bear to see my children in this state,do something please,bring him out of Coma Ya Allah,give her strength,she's just a kid she can't take more pain''she cried in his chest.

Afreen's mum and sabrinah had gone into the hospital room to calm Afreen down.

''He'll be fine In sha Allah, Just be strong,Allah will make everything fine''her mum said her eyes starting to well up .

''Be strong?how can i be?he was my strength,is and forever be,i am nothing without him''she cried.

''Shhh,calm down reen''sabrinah said hugging her best friend,she's never seen her this way,the last time she had been close to this was when they had lost lailah,it hurt her to see her this way.

''Excuse me''afreen's mother said,she was telling her daughter to be strong while she wasn't even strong ,the best she could do was to leave the room so she wouldn't see her crying and weaken the more.

Immediately she came out and saw Adal's mother in tears she couldn't hold it anymore,she could understand what a mother feels when she sees her son in danger,let alone now fighting for his life.
