Chapter 7: The Unexpected View

When I finally found her, what I saw was completely unexpected-and terrifying.

The men who had betrayed us-who had tried to kill me-lay lifeless on the ground. Their bodies were still, their faces twisted in shock and pain. But it was Elesis that caught my attention. She stood in the middle of the room, her red hair swirling around her, a dark red aura surrounding her form. Her eyes were not the usual vibrant red I knew so well. No, these eyes were darker, colder, filled with an emptiness that sent a chill through me. The aura around her pulsed with an eerie intensity, and it was clear that something inside her had snapped.

I tried to call her name, but my back was in agony, and I could barely stand. "Elesis..." My voice was weak, but it was enough to get her attention.

At the sound of my voice, her dark eyes flickered. They glowed, bright and full of an emotion I couldn't quite place. Then, like a predator sensing its prey, she ran towards me, her movements swift and precise. As she reached me, her expression twisted from a moment of uncertainty into something darker-something dangerous.

"Zach... You're hurt," she whispered, her voice soft, but there was an edge to it. "I'll make them pay for this. I won't let anyone hurt you." Her grip on my shoulders tightened, her fingers digging into my skin, and I felt her breath against my ear.

The look in her eyes-the way her aura crackled with energy-made my heart race. It was the look of someone who would do anything to protect the one they loved. And as much as I wanted to reassure her, there was something in that look that made me shiver. She was no longer the innocent girl I had once known.
