The grand hall of the palace was decorated in gold and red, the colors of royalty. The guests, noble and powerful, mingled among themselves, their conversations hushed as we were introduced. The king, a tall man with a commanding presence, stood at the center, flanked by his advisors and the royal family.
Among the royal figures was the crown prince—handsome, charismatic, and infamously known as a playboy. He greeted us with a charming smile, his eyes lingering on Elesis far too long, his gaze heated and calculating.
“I’ve heard much about you both,” he said smoothly, bowing slightly in respect. “It’s an honor to meet such legendary figures in person. You’ve brought great pride to the kingdom.”
I smiled politely, but something about his tone sent a warning signal in my mind. The crown prince was known for his charisma, yes, but also for his manipulative nature. He was no stranger to using others for his own gain.
As the evening wore on, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off. Elesis and I enjoyed the celebration, mingling with other adventurers and nobles. But even as I laughed and talked, my eyes kept drifting back to the prince, who was always close to Elesis. His gaze never wavered from her, and I could see how his attention made her uncomfortable, though she hid it well.
What I didn’t know—what none of us knew—was that the crown prince had been informed by his butler of a secret: Elesis and I were a couple. And that knowledge fueled his jealousy and desire for her. He wanted her for himself, and he would stop at nothing to get her.
