“What... happened?” I asked, my voice hoarse.

“They took you from me,” she whispered, her voice trembling. “They killed you. But I couldn’t let them take you. Not after everything we’ve been through.”

Her hands glowed with a dark power, her fingers tracing a symbol in the air. “I had no choice, Zach. I couldn’t lose you. So... I brought you back. But you’re not the same anymore.”

I stared at her in confusion. “What do you mean?”

Her lips curved into a sad, almost dangerous smile. “I made you like me,” she said softly. “I revived you with the power of the Bloodstone.”
