A sudden commotion at the palace gates broke the night’s tranquility, and the prince’s guards stormed into the hall, eyes locked onto me. I barely had time to react before they grabbed me by the arms, pulling me away from Elesis.
“What is this?” I demanded, struggling against their grip.
But it was already too late. The crown prince stood at the center of the chaos, his smirk cold and cruel. “You’ve served your purpose, weaponsmith,” he said, his voice dripping with malice. “Now, step aside.”
“Let him go!” Elesis shouted, her eyes flashing with anger. But the prince didn’t flinch.
“He’s nothing,” the prince said with a dismissive wave of his hand. “A mere obstacle. But you, Elesis… you are my true prize.”
Before I could process the situation, I was struck with a sharp pain in my chest, and everything went dark.
