Mia's eyes became teary as soon as she saw that everything was gone. She felt a lump grow in her throat at the sight. Just then, a sage raised her head and looked to the side, her eyes caught Julia's eyes but she just walked past her.
Mia ran up to her and held her by her arm. Julia turned back to Mia with a shocked expression on her face, like she didn't just see her.
"Julie, are you busy?" Mia asked her.
"Why? Did something happen?" She asked.
Mia bit her lips in shame and embarrassment at what she was about to ask her,
"Well, I think I'll need your help today." She said sheepishly.
"With?" Julie asked.
"The gems..." Mia hesitated while Julia looked at her with anticipation, and her arms crossed over her chest, "...they were stolen." Mia completed.
"So I'll need your help with digging." Mia added.
Julia looked about her, her hands, dropping to her side,"I don't think I'll be able to help you out today. I've got more sections to work on." She said and then turned around, "take care." She said and walked away, leaving a very frustrated Mia.
Time was running out and the process was still so long. There was no way that she would be able to dig that many diamonds before the delay would expire.
Or did I really need so much? She thought.
She quickly ran over to her room and brought out the piece of cloth where she had packed a few diamonds. She hoped that it was going to be just enough.
She immediately ran over to Donald's workshop. As she sprinted across the field towards his workshop, she bumped her head into a hard chest and fell on her bum.
The world around her spun for a few seconds. She shook her head to get her balance.
"Watch where you're going."
Mia heard the masculine deep voice that always did something to her.
She looked up and her eyes met with Aaron's.
"I'm sorry." She said softly and stood up.
Her head was focused on the ground.
"You should be. I wonder how far you're going to go with this if you're this clumsy." He said coldly.
Mia's hands curled to a fist at her sides. She could also feel the lump rapidly rising to her throat. Why did it hurt her so much?
He walked past her without any care in the world.
He must have lost faith that I would be able to make it happen. She thought to herself as she stood there.
Miram was right, putting it down on a piece of parchment was one thing and actually getting it done was another.
She inhaled deeply and then continued on her way to see Donald. She knocked softly on his door.
"Come in." She heard him say from inside the workshop.
She pushed open the wooden door and walked in. He raised his head and saw her from the top of the round glasses that sat on his nose.
"Ah, Mia. I thought you'd be in the mines." He said.
She sighed, "I was." Her voice was sounding very downcast.
Her encounter with Aaron had only added to her sour mood which was caused by the discovery that her jewels were missing.
"Then? You ought to go back and dig because we don't have any more time. The Alpha would have my head if we don't get this done because now, I'm involved even if I hate it." He said the last part with a dry expression on his face.
